I unplugged the TV for 15min and I still have nothing but colorful vertical lines and perfect sound.

  • cescomuerto Jan 29, 2009

I've had it for 3 to 4 years with absolutely no previous trouble.

Try determining if you have the lines even when tv is stand alone, in that case, it is an internal fault, and you need to have TV tested by a technician.

If you do not get the lines on certain inputs, then check the connection and cables, and also test the receiver.

If you are getting the vertical lines and you didn't adjust anything for them to get there, than could be some electronical component problems. You could have a bad flyback, bad CRT's, bad EPROM, bad capacitors, or even a fried video board. If you cannot fix it when taking off the back cover of the tv and adjusting v-hold and other picutre adjusting screws, than I'm afraid it's time to dump it or pay a few hundred for getting it fixed

First, check ALL the cables and make sure you are on the correct input mode. If this doesn't work, your tv is most likely dead, since plasmas dergade over time.

No, I reccomend you take it in for service. However, plasmas degrade over time and your set might be dead. You

Frank,

Sorry but i'm not to familiar with this model,is it using a flat tube type screen or LCD or PLASMA screen? if it's a PLASMA or LCD type screen the only thing you can do is seek a help from a certified technician, most likely the problem deals with the internal.it's either the display driver module or the display screen itself.

cheers,
mark

First try each different source but most likely you need servicing. How long have you owned this television. Once I have more information I can suggest the best route for you.
Thanks,

Hi!

It is almost certain the problem is magnetic distortion to the shadow mask of the picture tube.

This is caused by something nearby to the television that is causing a magnetic field to over power the screen. Most common it is another loudspeaker or subwoofer that is near by.

The correction is as follows:

ONE: Move the object that has the magnets further away from the tv.

TWO: All tv sets have a degaussing coil built in. This coil is activated each time the tv is turned on. It will gradually, over a period of time, degauss the screen and restore it to normal operation.
Thanks
Rylee

If that is not the case then it is either a a bad buffer module or a bad panel. Hope that it is not the panel or else it will cost you a fortune.

Are you using "component" connection to the video source. If so check the red green and blue wires , It sounds like the green and blue may be crossed. Did someone re connect the cable or sat? The problem uou mention is sometimes caused by mixing up the wires, and being a little color blind myself, I have done this myself. I hope that is all it is, check all of the connections, like surround sound reciever if you are using one.

I think you have either a faulty line output transistor or a faulty line output transformer. The first thing to check for is dry solder joints and if this is not the case then suspect those two components. If you are not able to check for this find a competant technician. Hope this helps.

Since its plasma TV so very hard to find parts / boards.
Problem seems in digital video processing board and Part Store would be good source of boards for your TV but you need TV tech to examine and decide what board should be replaced.
    Thanks.

Open the back cover and check any fuse blow in Y Sustain board or Z Sustain board. If you do find the fuse gone, replace the board. Good luck!
