There are actually two lids to this printer. The 1st lid is the printer/scanner tray for you to put your document in. There is another lid under this that lift and the cartridges go in there. I can't believe that they do not give you any documentation on where to put the ink cartridges. Geez. It took me about 20 mins to find out where they went. :(
