Question about Dell 3000cn Color Laser Printer
I have a Dell 3100cn with a error code 004-332. It says to restart printer. I tried to replace the drum eventhough it didn't request for one.
Dell 3100 cn
Error Code 004-332 problem Dell Printer 3000cn
Has Error Code 004-332
I am unable to take cartridge out and it says to restart the printer. I keep turning it off and on and the same message appears. How do I fix this?
Try unplugging it for about 10 minutes and starting it up again... that hopefully will reset it.... have you found out what that error code is

The drum unit on this printer is problematic. What happens is that there are two little rollers inside the drum that are supposed to keep the big rubber belt centered, but they don't work well. The belt slips past one of the rollers which causes this little reflective silver square to not be visible to the printer, giving you the error.
If you pull the drum unit out of the printer and set it on your desk the same way that it came out of the printer with the arrows pointing away from you, you will see by looking at the roller on the top next to where the arrows are pointing right away if the belt is off to one side. The rubber should equally overhang the metal roller.
If you buy a new drum, it will fix the problem, but if you would rather save $170, here's what I do: Remove the top plastic cover that covers the drum unit. I don't think that you have to remove the two screws on the front of the unit (side opposite the arrows) where the unit makes a curve. These are the screws that hold the rollers that center the belt. Once you have the cover off, grab the very edges of the belt and keep rotating it and pulling it to one side until the belt is centered on the rollers again.
You will see the two little centering rollers that are the screws where the unit makes a curve. The problem is the little roller is not positioned well. This is a poor design of the drum unit. I loosen the screws and fold up a very small piece of paper and stick it in between the drum housing and the small roller base then tighten the screw back up. This will cause the small centering roller to aim more downward, which will prevent the rubber roller from slipping to one side again.
Last time I did this, the fix lasted for about a year and a half. It beats buying a new drum.

SOURCE: Error Code 004-332
Error code: 004-332
This type of error code implies that you need to restart the printer again. However, do check to see if toner cartridges are seated in the proper position. Also ensure that they have been locked in. This is an error commonly associated with the Dell 3100cn laser printer.
