Hello, when i try to print anything, the printer prints from the bottom first..so when it comes out of the printer you can see the bottom prints then goes up but it leaves a big gap on the bottom so the top portion of the page gets cut off..is there a way i can change this so it prints top first?

This is a generic error for a problem with the print carriage. Unplug
for 30 seconds then replug, clean the cartridge's contacts, check and
make sure the encoder strip is not out of place behind the carriage. Do a
full cleaning of the print head manually:
(1) Open the printer (2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head. (3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water to thoroughly clean the print head. (4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. (5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges (6) Try to print something now
If none of that works, most likely you need a new print head
The stripes are generally caused by a blocked nozzle (or 2).
Remove the cartridges and then remove the print head from the printer.
Run the print head under some warm water for a few minutes - concentrating on the pit at the bottom where the ink comes out - all those coloured slots!. When the water runs clear. take some kitchen roll and dab the thing dry - don't rub. Make sure there is no water on the electrical contacts on the back and refit the print head into the printer and then the ink carts.
Try a couple of prints now. What happens?
Your printer cartridges have likely dried up. You can try removing the print cartridges from the printer and pressing the print head (the bottom where ink comes out) into a moistened paper towel. This will hopefully rehydrate the dried ink in the print nozzle. Ink will likely transfer onto and through the paper towel, so please take precautions to not soil anything.
If this does not work you will likely need new printer cartridges. Refills can be used with decent success for the black but the machine will likely refuse a refilled color. Unfortunately this is how Canon has designed the machine. An original should be used in this instance.
Try cleaning the felt pads where the print head would rest when not printing. They get full of ink and cause more printing problems. I use water to clean them.Don't loose them, they are needed to keep the print head from drying out.
Could have a corrupt driver. Disconnect
the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do
both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer
to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
The nozzles of the print head are jammed. you can try this take about 50 ml of luke warm water (please ensure that the temperature of the water is not too high as it may spoil the print head physically) in a small flat base dish and keep the print head in it (only the bottom part the nozzles should be dipped and not the green circuit chip) for about 30-40 minutes there are about 40% chances of print head recovery, if this solves your problem them its ok or you have to purchase a new Print Head for your printer.
