The saw sits idle most of the year, but I did use it OK a couple of weeks ago. As far as I can see, there is no problem with the tension, there is not tensioning lever, it's a screw knob on the top. There is also a screw knob on the back that adjusts the angle of the guide wheel and everything looks fine until you flick the switch to start it up then the blade flicks of the bottom drive wheel almost immediately.

I've tried all the help, so far with no success.

I think I will buy a new one.

    Thanks

I can't find this in Dewalt but, how long has the saw been sitting idle? Can you see any indents in the blade pulley tires and are the axles tight, (no movement in pulleys) Also has the tool been dropped causing misalignment in the housing. And is the blade tensioning lever moving freely and tightening the pulley. Let me know and I will dig deeper

Pull the plug on the saw, take off the covers on the upper and lower wheels of the saw.

You will see an adjustment bolt above the upper wheel and below the lower wheel, with the band saw in place on both wheels turn the upper wheel by hand, if the band saw moves to either side of the wheel use the adjustment bolts to center the band saw.

The knobs are for tensioning and tracking, there is no "looking OK" to this, the proof is in the running, so try this before you buy a new saw.

Unplug the saw from the outlet, remove the blade guard from the top wheel, put the blade back on be sure it's very very tght, then turn the wheel by hand very slowly, you should see the blade begining to walk off the wheel, when it does turn the top knob (I always try clockwise first) but it may be counter clockwise.

You should see the blade begin to "walk" the other way, fuss with this until the blade runs consistantly on the center of the wheel.

Spin the wheel as fast as you can by hand if the blade stays on then replace the guard, plug in the saw and you should be in business.

Let me know how this goes.

I would try and reverse the blade pulley tires and see if that helps. Also try another blade

Band saw blade keeps coming off

Set up your band saw properly. There are several reason why band saw blade keeps on coming off on the wheels: loose/wear tire, improper guide adjustment, incorrect tension, over feeding wood stock or the problem could be on the blade itself. Try to change your blade, I got my band saw blades on sawblade.com . I suggest you watch band saw tune up tutorial videos on youtube. Hope that helps.

How do I adjust the blade to stay on?

Many times this is caused by worn beearings or a worn rubber "tire" on the idler or drive wheel.

What makes a delta 28-243F 14" band saw blade keep coming off?

The most common is wheel misaligment. The top wheel has an adjusting screw or the equivalent somewhere, and you can turn that to align the blade to the center of the wheels.
Second most common is guide problems. There are some guides that are supposed to hold the blade "just right" above and maybe below the table where you are cutting These must be set to support the blade in it's correct position as you are cutting through the material you are cutting.
3rd problem is a saw blade that has lost it's tension from being
" worn out ".
Be blessed.

DEWALT DW100 the blade slips off the driving wheel

There are some possible reasons why the blade slips off. Check the wheel alignment of the saw. If the wheels are not aligned, you have to loosen the shafts to align the wheels and re-secure the wheels to the shafts. Once the wheels are aligned, make sure that the deepest gullet of the blade is on the center on the tire. Then tyr turning the wheels by hand. Check your tires for wear and the tension as well. Why doesnt the wheels on my band saw turn when I turn the saw on?I can't even turn them when the saw is off.

Most likely the blade has come out of position and jammed. One place to check is at the guides just above and below the table.
To be sure the guides are correct, Google on "adjust band saw" to find out how to adjust them.

Hi,
Sounds like it could be quite a few different things. My suggestion is to go to you tube and look at Band Saw setup. I haved viewed the one from the wood whisper and it covers set up in detail, there are also other videos that may help.

Sounds like a setup problem - wheels, tires, guides, and even blade tension can cause this.

Does the blade track true when turning top wheel by hand?(unplugged of course)
Is the blade tension correct?
Are the tires in good shape?
Are the guides and back up bearings set correctly?

I hope this will get you headed in the right direction.

Check and see if one of the guides is out of alignment or if the blade is worn. Either one can cause the problem since you already checked the tension and guides. If the guides are worn they won't hold the blade true.
