Question about XFX PVT44AWAH GeForce 6200 AGP 8X DDR 256MB DDR Video Card w/TV-Out & DVI Retail ***Free 2nd Day*** Graphic Card

1 Answer

Bfg 8400gs 512mb

Computer will not start with card installed. Looked at graphics card and a tiny chip fell off and i lost it. I think i damaged it when i took off the heat sink since it is next to the hole where the 1 of the heatsink anchors goes. I tried putting a simular one on and damaged the contacts on the board. Is there a way to fix the contacts for cheap or will it be cheaper to buy a new or used card at a store.

Unless you are good at soldering micro chips. then at that, these boards are multi-layered. Regulare sodler iron will not be able to do the job correctly.
either way you have to buy anew one sooner or later.

Does the DG31PR motherboard support Geforce 8400GS 512MB PCI-E?

Yes, but check your BIOS and make sure the PCI-E slot is enabled.

Also, when you say doesn't start, you mean just the screen? Right?

About geforce 8400gs gen2 tc1g 64bit ddr2, it is okey to run in window7 32bit. i already install and run but only read 512mb.

There should be no reason why this card won't work with Windows 7 32bit, it could be as simple as your Graphics drivers are out of date. I recommend downloading the latest Windows 7 drivers for your card at the Nvidia website.

Just remember graphics RAM and SDRAM are two completely different things so they don't add up.
As far as I know the 8400GS is a 256MB card.

XFX 8400GS showing garbage or line at windows XP starup

I think you have added ntune. did you? it overclocks the GPU. Please try to remove the ntune. may try a fresh install and setup drivers again. donot try overclocking.

If this doesnot solve the problem, the problem is of GPU itself. Try it on another computer then.

Graphics question

yes, it will. all the graphics rendering will be done by the 8400gs and the onboard chip will remain unused. it is recommended to disable the onboard graphics when a graphics card is installed to prevent conflicts. but to your question it will work better. although i would recommend a graphics card more powerful because the price differences at that performance level is very small.
