Since you have onboard graphics and only PCI expansion slots you can only upgrade to a PCI graphics card.

I have asrock p4i45gv r5.0 motherboard and want to ask if it supports ati raedon 6850 graphics card or not?

The AsRock P4I45GV revision 5.0 motherboard uses an Intel 845GV motherboard chipset.
There is one AGP slot on the motherboard, used for a graphics card.

http://www.asrock.com/MB/overview.asp?Model=P4i45GV%20R5.0

2) Information on the Intel 845GV chipset,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_chipsets

Looking down the column on the left side until we come to - 845GV, and looking across, we see under the heading Graphics that Integrated Graphics is supported. No mention of AGP support.

But AsRock has implemented it's own technology of A.G.I. at an 8x speed.
(For the Intel 845GV chipset)

A.G.I.
AsRock Graphic Interface,

http://www.asrockamerica.com/AGI8x.htm

This means that graphics cards that use the AGP 8X technology, or AGP 4X technology, can be used. (AGP4X/8X)

Advanced Graphics Port,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGP

Using Sapphire's version of the ATI Radeon 6850 as an example, we can see this graphics card uses the newer technology - PCI-Express

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908

(Doesn't natter WHO makes it, the graphics card is still based on the ATI G.P.U.
Graphics Processing Unit. Or in slang terminology; the graphics chipset)

It also uses the newest version of PCI-Express, the PCI-Express 3.0 technology.

Information on PCI-Express,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express

Short answer to your question?
No

Your AsRock motherboard is set up to support AGP graphics cards that use either the AGP 4X technology, or AGP 8X technology.

Does not support graphics cards based on the PCI-Express technology.

Does my d845gvsr motherboard support a 9500GT graphics card?

9500GT Series graphics card uses PCI Express Slot(16X). As for your Mainboard D845GVSR it comes with AGP Slot(4x or 8x). The graphics card slot on your Mainboard AGP will not fit the PCI Express slot for this Nvidia chipset 9500GT Graphics Card. You cannot use the 9500GT Series card for your mainboard.

The highest Nvidia Graphics card that support AGP Slot is the 7300GT Chipset Series.

Hope it helps.

Can I My motherboard support a PCI video card?

Hi there.
Your motherboard will support both kinds of Video card.
PCI is quite old and is only supported up to 128MB of video memory.
PCI Express is new technology and is by far the best card that you can buy giving you the best graphics experience and can support up to 1GB of graphics memory making it good for gaming.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

I have a intel D865GVHZ motherboard...wanna install graphics card

From what i can find, it doesnt have a agp (like you said) or pci-express slot so you cant install a pci express graphics card.
You could use a pci craphics card but wont be very good,

If you go for a pci card make sure it isnt pci-e

I want to play an high graphic games on my computer Which is Intel D865GVHZ and do not have avg slot on it can I play the high graphics on PCI graphic card

In today's generation the PCI Express Slot are used for graphic card and it is available in many motherboards.

It is faster than the AGP Slot and PCI Slot.

In your machine, if you want to play higher games than you use that AGP slot because it is faster than the normal PCI Slot.
To play higher games you need an at least 2 GB of RAM.

My suggestion is that you just upgrade your system with latest motherboard and PCI Express Graphic Card that will play your all games very smoothly.

Intel D845GRG no video!

HI madpanic_att, there is no jumper for the onboard graphics card,
82845G Graphics Memory Controller. If you add an AGP video card it must be 1.5volt compliant & can only function at a max speed of 4x. The Intel motherboard will automatically detect the AGP card & boot the card. If you no longer have your manual, click on this Intel link & download it; (Bottom of page).
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=824&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Professional&lang=eng&strOSs=44&submit=Go%21
You will need Adobe PDF reader to view the manual.
You can download Adobe for free at this link;
http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
Look & read page 16, (Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) in manual & PCI Auto Configuration. Bios configuration, see page 53,
(Video Configuration Submenu).
See a list of 4x AGP cards at this next link; http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=318&SRCCODE=WEBGOOVID&cm_mmc_o=7BBTkwCjC-p8ByplCjCabTwyKbywgfCjCmH4L
Remember the AGP graphics card can only run at 1.5volt in your Intel D845GRG board.
Example, here is an AGP card. Notice the separations between the contacts. (This is an 8x card).
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1776106&CatId=318

This next AGP card is 1.5volt, see the contact separations.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4103516&CatId=318
This is also an AGP 1.5v card;
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3570059&CatId=318

If you add a PCI card you will not have to worry about the 1.5volt limit.
Here are some PCI graphics cards; http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=319

Good luck madpanic_att!

Graphics card

Hi Harikris, no you can not install just any graphics card. You're Intel D845GLLY board uses an onboard graphics card. (It's an AGP graphics card).
If it's you're intention to install a new graphics card you must use a PCI graphics card. (Understand that the AGP onboard graphics is faster than a PCI graphics card). However, the PCI cards do use their own memory. (Which fee’s you're system memory to run windows.
The Intel D845GLLY has 4 PCI (White) slots, onboard. You can add a video card into the system. You're onboard video card does use you're system memory to function. If you're PC has 512MB of system memory & you're video card is set to use 128MB of memory. Than you're system is left to run with 128MB. One would think you're system is running a little slow.
The Intel D845GLLY motherboard can use up to 256MB of system memory. You can set the amount of system memory in the bios as shown on page 49, table 18. In you're manual. If you do not have you're manual you can download it from here: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845glly/sb/cs-008853.htm
May I suggest you increase you're system memory to 1GB. Than increase you're graphics memory to 256MB. You're system will run faster & so will you're graphics card. These older Intel motherboards require memory current for you're board. Click this link: http://www.memory-up.com/Memory/IntelD12696.html
If you still feel that you want to use the slower PCI graphics card you can choose from any listed on this link: http://www.newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?N=2000380048+1069609642&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=48&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA
You will also need to change a setting in you're bios to boot to the PCI card instead of the AGP onboard card. Page 49.

Good Luck!

Graphics Card

Hi Shavy,

Merry Christmas!

Check your Manual for the motherboard, for the slots available. i.e PCIX or AGP. Then best to check the various forums to establish the best perfomance card for your board. This is how I identify the best commponents for my builds and it works every time, mainly because you are dealing with people who have first hand experince with the components you are interested in!
I had A quick Look For you and it looks like you mobo has PCI slots only, so no PCI express or AGP graphics available. Have a look at this link.Good luck.

Is there any PCI slot for graphics card in Intel D845GVRS

hi buddy, the graphics card u r talking about is an AGP not PCI, And most of the 845 chipset series do have an AGP slot, so idont think there is any issue, but do check for the AGP slot.
Bye, enjoy...
