Lost programming instructions for my allegro one-device remote
I have an older one-device universal remote control for which I have lost the programming instructions. "Allegro" is written in gray script letters across the bottom of the remote. There is no manufacturer or serial number listed. It has a strange shape--about an inch and a half wide by six inches long by about a half inch thick. It's flat along the bottom edge and rounded on the top. It has a yellow LED next to a blue power button. The other six buttons are gray---volume up down, channel up down, mute, and display. On the inside, there is a Mexico sticker:
343 04-200
MEXICO 4013D17
124-185-03
And on the inside plastic back is:
043-02230
KING'S 2
Do you have any idea where I can get probramming instructions and codes.

Find the owner's manual for the universal remote (you may have to get the pdf version online) and look up the model number for the tuner in the list of supported devices. The manual will have instructions for entering the code for that model number into the remote.
If you wish to get more details; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Common codes to check devices with different brand TVs are given, in the order of the device's brand name list in alphabetical order.Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electromedicals.blogspot.com/ http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/ http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/
Note: most remotes allow you to find the code by manually turning the TV (or other device) on first, then press the appropriate button (cable, DVD, surround, etc) then setting the the remote in the "program" mode, then keep pushing the "off/power" button until the TV (or other device) turns off, at that point the code is set.
1. turn on device 2. press setup (underneath on/off) till red light
stays on the take finger off the button 3. press and quickly release
device button (tv,vcr, etc.) the red indicator blinds off once 4. press
the on/off button (up to 300 times) until the device is to be controlled
turns off the red light blinks off with each button press 5. press and
release enter to install code
There is not really a true 'universal remote.' If the remote is of older design than the set you wish to control, it will not contain the code set you need.
Before you buy another, check the mfr's website for code sets for any given model remote to ensure you aren't buying another one which will end up in a drawer.
Unfortunately, this is a very common problem.
Here is a link for the generic programing instructions for the RCA universal remotes. Scroll down the page for a list of device codes. Let me know if this is what you were looking for. http://www.thompsontv.com/rcarc.html
http://www.remotecodelist.com/remotes/magnavox/Philips-Magnavox_PM525S.pdf This
is the user's manual for a Phillips remote control. There is a list of
codes in it. They should be rather universal. There's also instructions
as to how to program it. I believe that there is a way to program it
without using the codes.
Programming with Code Search
1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
2. Press and hold Code Search button until the red indicator stays on. Release the Code Search button.
3. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blink, then stays lit.
4.
Press the Channel Up button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the
device could be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks,
then stays lit. If you accidentally overshoot the code required, press
the Channel Down button to backtrack through the library until the
device changes channel. Pressing Channel Up changes direction to
forward again. Press and release the Mute button to install the code.
