This is generally a fuse problem on the motherboard.
if you have access to a soldering iron this can very easily be fixed.
if you unscrew the back casing and remove (7 screws), you will be looking at the motherboard.
there are 3 fuses which could be causing this problem, the most likley one to be the problem is the fuse under the on/off switch. BE CAREFUL when opening up the console because this fuse will most likely have come clean off and you could lose it!!!
jus re-solder this fuse back into place and everything should work fine!!

My son's DS is frozen. We bought a generic DC

Has probably corrupted the DS's memory, small though it is. Replace the memory to unfreeze. Alternatively get angry and stamp on it. (2nd method worked on my psp, though not advised.)

Nintendo DS Lite - does not charge

i would suggest trying to find what the issue is, if you know anyone who has a different charger, try it on your daughter's ds. if it still doesn't work, it's a DS problem...if it's under warranty, go to whatever store you bought it at and have them fix or replace it. If you try the different charger and it DOES work, then the only problem is the charger...so then all you have to do is go buy a new charger...hope this helps.

Nintendo DS will NOT charge

My guess is that the problem resides in the charger. You can buy a dual use charger for the DS and DS Lite at GameStop for relatively cheap.

DS Lite Completely crashed

Some R4 cards were known to "brick" DS's. Not sure if they were defective or made that way. So it looks like your DS is dead. Unfortunately, this is the risk you take when you use 3rd party hardware.

Nintendo ds lite

It's not likely to be battery, but fracture in ribbon cable to top screen causing this. Both screens must be connected or you get the symptom you've explained.
