If it goes to the screen that says (SanDisk) and has the white lines on top and bottom and freezes, then just wait till the battery dies, plug it into your computer for a little while so that it has some juice in the battery and try to start it again

The Nuvi 25x5 is well known for having issues with the rear USB port becoming loose or disconnected from the PC board. This will prevent the unit from powering up when connected to an external charging source. It will also prevent the internal battery from being able to be charged, so when the battery has exhausted its charge, the unit will be dead. This can be repaired. I tlooks as if possibly you might have a defective unit. I did some research and you wouldn't be the only one. Either that or maybe try a diffrent USB port, maybe even a usb to wall outlet charger....see if that works. If not I would say its defective.
I had this happen to me on one occasion. Pressing the power button any number of times would not turn on the unit. Also, plugging in the car charger did not turn on the unit or charge it either.
I found that holding the power button for 10-15 seconds forced the unit to reboot, and it started just fine after that.
Since then, I've had an even more irritating issue, where holding the power button for 10-15 seconds would restart the unit, but it would freeze at the "loading maps." part. I ended up plugging the unit into my PC, which started it for purposes of data transfer. I then disconnected it from the PC and it restarted properly.
Try those out and see if you have any better luck.
Are you trying to charge it with a car charger?
My Nuvi 1300 wouldn't start one day, and I tried connecting it to the car charger, and it still wouldn't turn on or charge.
I connected it to a PC via USB, and it would start up for purposes of data transfer, but after disconnecting it, it still wouldn't start. I found that you have to hold the power button for 10-15 seconds in order to force the unit to reboot. I've since found that connecting the unit to the PC was also an important if not necessary step. The last issue I had with my nuvi 1300, would not resolve itself until I plugged it into the PC, let it start up, and then unplugged it, in addition to holding the power button for 10+ seconds.
I think I had the same problem. You do not write if your device were connected to the PC. My device was, and I finally got the suspicision, that it died because the battery was so low, that it crashed when the PC polled it as an usb unit. So, I connected the unit directly to the charger unit that came with the unit, and now it works. So, try to connect directly to your charger, when your battery is totally drained.
