Hey Annfranke! Try resetting the printer:
Turn off the power by pressing ON.Unplug the power cord. Wait five seconds, then plug in the power cord and turn on the power. Press and hold # and 6 from the front panel keypad while plugging in the powercord. For products that do not have # and 6, press Cancel and the Right Arrow. Continue holding both buttons until the reset displays, and then release. Select the language and country/region if prompted. Resetting the unit willerase some stored data. Most of this data will be restored when the all-in-onere-establishes communication with the computer.
O.k. there are a few things you must check. Is the power on? Check the power cord make sure it is plugged in completely.
Check all your wires from computer to printer. If everything appears o.k. and you still cannot print unplug your printer for one minute and plug it back in.
Try a test print. I f it still does not print look in the bottom right hand corner of your monitor. This is your system tray. Look for a printer icon there. Click on it and see if you have backed up print jobs. Clear and cancel all print jobs.
Try a test print.
If you still cannot print there is on last thing to check. You need to make sure your computer is set to use that printer.
Click start on your computer Go to control panel Find printers and click and pull open this folder. Make sure your printer is check marked or chosen as the default printer.
Try a test print.
If all this does not work buy a new ink cartridge.
hope this helps if you found it useful please rate my solution. it helps me too!
reboot the computer and the printer.. then try to do a "Print Test
Page"..if it still does not
print, turn off the computer again, unplug the printer from the back of
the computer ( I assume it's connected via USB), then plug the printer
on a different usb slot on the computer.. you may have to re-install
the drivers. make sure you have the cd for the printer.
Has the software for the printer been installed in your computer? Sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but I did the same thing, and it turned out I hadn't installed the software yet so it didn't recognize the printer.
Have you tried unpluging your printer from the computer as well as unpluging the printer from the electrical? If that doesn't work you should start from scratch... that is remove the printer from the computer memory, delete it, turn off the computer, turn on the computer and go through the installation process as if you just purchased the printer. Barring any mechanical problems as in jams or the such, the printer should return to operational status.
Hey Donald hows it going, sounds like the printer is frozen up or theres a file still waiting to print thats jammed so what we are going to do is the following
press cancel on the printer itself and see if the printer will clear the printer if not,
disconnect the printer from the computer itself turn the printer off and unplug it from the wall wait a few minutes and plug it back into the wall and dont plug it into the computer just yet make sure that its fuctioning by printing out a test page from the printer itself if this works then we know its not the printer but the computer. this ushally means there is a full que or something that hasnt been printed or paused which happens here and there best thing for that would just be simply shutting down your computer waiting a minute and turn it back on and then attach the printer while its on. and see if you get the same results as you did before only this time do a test page through wordpad or notepad just put a line or two of text for testing purposes.
See what happens did we get it?
if not please let me know and I will or others will try to help the best we can in getting this issue sorted out for you.
on a windows system, go to printers and faxes, delete all icons there. unplug the printer, reboot your computer, then as soon as your computer is up, connect the usb cable... now wait..... after about 5 mins, check printers and faxes if it has an icon for your printer, if it does then print a test page, if it does not show an icon, try another cable, try another usb port or try it on another computer entirely...
it's unusual to have same problem if completely uninstalled printer(removing printer, then uninstalling, after which use printer installation cd then re connect printer when prompted).
If you have a spare usb port install software then connect printer to a different usb port.
Lastly try; go to printers and faxes folder>right click on printer icon>properties>advanced, then click the radio button 'Print Directly to the Printer' and see if it prints.
Also make sure this printer is set to default printer
Try an updated driver, if any, from the Lexmark web site, as they are the same printer without the Dell logo.
