i had removed inlet screens some time ago after having a new hot water tank installed. water is turned on, hot and cold. checked the pump drain for debris, nothing there. if i blow air into the solenoid valve should the air pass thru, or will there be resistance?

Check that the inlet screens on the water supply are not clogged.
Make sure the water is for certain turned on (assuring nothing has changed).

If those are not found to be the problem, then it could be the fill valve(s) or the timer control.

Reply back what you find, and I can help you further.

No the valves will only allow water, or air, to pass when the solenoid is energized.

One problem with removing the screens, especially after having the water heater replaced, is chunks of minerals that break free within the system and lodge in other places. Because this happens is why the screens are put in the water lines.

You can try blowing on the valve ports while running through the wash cycle, but even if the valve opens, if the clog is further down, then you still won't be able to blow through. You need to see if chunks of mineral have lodged deeper in the unit, if that is what it is.

Washer won't work and door is locked shut with clothes inside. Can I get the door open manually?

turn off . turn off power point. Wait 3 minutes then turn on power point. Try blowing on drain pipe then turn dial to spin cycle .
See if water pump is engaged during spin cycle.
Don't know if you can manually open the door
Had a similar problem and found the water pump was not pumping the water out and spin cycle was failing to complete.
Check filter of front loader as well .

My front load GE washer is filling with water and draining but doesnt spin, exept for the first two spins when started

it isnt the door lock or it would not work on the first 2 spin cycles and unless you have huge out of balance loads the door(not lid as lids are only on top loaders) interlock probably isn't at fault. i would cleanout the tub to pump trap inspect the pump for blockage and flush the discharge hose. it doesn't cost a penny to do this and has fixed many front loaders with the same problem

Ge prodigy top loader wash machine. washes fine, spins, but water won't drain. have checked for blockage in hose and found none. water will trickle through hose then stop. what do I do? Don't...

Water will not drain from machine
1. Kinked or clogged drain hose---clean hose
2. Pump does not run----readjust & tighten pump, drive mechanism
3. Suds lock---remove suds add cold water
4. Faulty transfer value---replace
5. Defective timer---replace
6. Loose belt----adjust belt

GE Washer, Model GBVH5140HWW. Door seal failed and water in washing machine leaked into the base of the washing machine. Removed the front panel, replaced the door seal, dried up the water in the machine...

The seal is likely not installed correctly. What is happening is the latch for the lock is trying to hook and it is being blocked so it doesn't actually lock. After so many tries the machine goes into an abort mode where it washes out all the water and stands by for it to be fixed. If you put some pressure on the door (closing it) while it is trying to lock, it likely will lock and then run. It is basically an adjustment issue. It is also possible that something with the lock mechanism is broken or out of adjustment causing the leaking to begin with and that is actually the area that needs attention rather than replacing the door seal. Door seals rarely fail unless they are physically damaged somehow.

Ge front loader leaks when filling

Leaks are probably going to come from one of 4 places:
  1. Door gasket: water should run down the face of the washer from the lowest point of the door.
  2. Water connectors: left rear of machine
  3. Soap drawer: water running down front of machine from the upper left-hand side
  4. Discharge pump and hoses: Right side.
Rear right would probably indicate a discharge hose leak. Front right would most likely be the discharge pump and/or connectors to it. Here's a diagram:

If you don't see any of the easily visible leaks (door, soap dispenser, connectors), try to
pop off the front access panel by removing the 3 bottom screws. Once removed try to determine where the leak is originating from...then we can troubleshoot more. If you find this advice helpful, please don't forget to rate me -- trying to get my Guru level so I can offer premium support
