Re: NO Audio!!!!!!!

Sound like the speaker blew, which can be fixed. Although it can be tough to find a small enough speaker to mount inside the unit. You can mount a small external speaker on the bottom of the unit and wire it inside the detecter, you will have to take the unit apart and disconnect the existing speaker. This is a common problem and I have fixed several by mounting an external speaker on the unit. Good Luck

Radar is not switching on

ok, check a few things first. Does the lighter socket or power port you have the radar detector plugged into power a different device? If it does NOT power a different device then check the vehicle's fuse box for the lighter socket/power port. If a different device does work then check the fuse in the radar detector's power cord.

When changing the Settings on your detector, please keep in mind: Each time the unit is turned On the factory settings of Highway and Auto Mute-On will be set. They can be changed while the unit is in use as described in the following sections.
Assistance Muting An Alert
Your detector allows you to quickly turn Off an audio Alert by momentarily pressing the Mute button. If you press the Mute button a second time during the Alert, the audio Alert will be turned back On.
Auto Mute Mode Auto Mute will automatically reduce the audio volume of all alerts after four (4) seconds for as long as the signal is detected. The factory setting for Auto Mute is On.
Highway/City Mode Setting your detector to City mode delays all X band audio alerts at lower signal strength levels. (A single beep will sound when the signal is first Notice detected.) This will reduce false alerts while you are driving in, or near, urban areas where there are many sources for conflicting X band signals such as microwave towers and automatic door openers. To change settings, follow the procedure listed below, which indicates what you will see and hear as you complete each step. The factory setting is Highway mode.
Highway Mode City Mode
Mute Button Press and release
To Turn Auto Mute Off X Ka L S
City Button Press and release
Press and release the Mute button while no alert is occurring.

I hav3e a Whistler 1765 unit and when I tried to transfer it to a new car it would not calibrate, even after 5 tries. It was "stuck" on 315 degrees. Then the display changed and was stuck on...

There could be few reasons for this.
1. There is strong magnetic field near the radar detector. This could be even car speakers.
2. There is power lines going above the place where you are trying to calibrate.
3. To complete calibration you need to press both the volume control buttons while the vehicle is parked.. The display will show "CAL MODE". Then slowly drive at least 2 complete circles while in calibration mode. Then again press both the volume control buttons for 2 seconds until it beeps and shows " CAL DONE" in the display.

Continually switching from x pulse to k pulse then to a reading of x band strength 9 then reading k band strength 9 with no law enforcement around. or security from stores...

Have you tried the unit in a different vehicle? If it doesn't react the same in another vehicle it could be some type of interference in your car like an after market car alarm.A poor or dirty lighter socket can limit full power to the unit and this can casuse this problem too.

If it does the same in another vehicle, what settings do you have turned on or off on the unit? You can try a factory reset - hold in the Power and Quiet buttons; while holding in these buttons plug in the power cord. The unit should beep twice indicating that it has been reset. Without touching any settings on the unit, try it again in your vehicle.

Just bought a 1675 from an individual, never used, still in box. In highway mode it keeps giving a random alert on ka. Doesn't seem to be related to any time or location.

Have you tried the unit in a different vehicle to see if the alerting still happens? Are you using two detectors power up at the same time in the same vehicle? If so, this will cause the units to false.

Stopped working

What stopped working? Does the unit power up? Is there no sound? Will the unit not alarm any more?

If it stopped working, did you check the fuse in the units' power cord or the vehicles lighter socket fuse?

If not sound, does all the other lights and buttons function? if so, is the volume control turned up?

The volume quit working

I take it that you have no volume or audio at all coming from your STi, and that you have pressed the volume button to try to cycle up and down through the volume settings? If so, first lets try doing a factory reset which will resolve any corrupted memory settings. To do this, first power off your STi using its power button. With it powered off, hold down the volume and sensitivity buttons and while holding these two buttons down, press the power button. Release all three buttons as soon as "RESET" is displayed. After RESET was displayed, your STi should go through its normal startup sequence, with audio beeps and braps. If you here nothing, then your STi has a blown speaker and you will have to contact Beltronics to arrange for them to replace the bad speaker.

LED Display gives you your display visual alerts, signal strength, and operation mode. Here is an attached link for the manual.....
But to answer your question here is what the difference between the green light and the red light are:
1. X-Band Signal Indicator—A green LED lights and blinks to
indicate the presence of an X-band radar signal. The blink rate
increases as the radar source gets closer. A distinct audio alert is
also heard.
2. K-Band Indicator— An amber (orange) LED lights and blinks to
indicate the presence of a K-band radar. The blink rate increases as
the radar source gets closer. A distinct audio alert is also heard.
3. Ka-SuperWideband Signal Indicator— A yellow LED lights and
blinks to indicate the presence of a Ka-SuperWideband radar
signal. The blink rate increases as the radar source gets closer. A
distinct audio alert is also heard.
4. Laser Signal Indicator— A red LED under L lights and blinks to
indicate the presence of a laser signal. A distinct audio alert is also
5. SWS Signal Indicator— When an early warning hazard or
informational signal is detected, the yellow SWS LED begins to
blink and the amber K-band LED lights. A distinct audio alert is
also heard.
6. Power-On Indicator— A green LED under P lights to indicate
power is being supplied to the unit and the unit is turned on.
7. LED Signal Strength Meter—Four LEDs give an accurate visual
indication of the strength of radar or laser signals.
8. City Mode Indicator—A green LED under C lights to indicate
that you selected City Mode.
9. Auto Mute Indicator— A red LED under M lights to indicate that
you selected the Auto Mute feature.

V955 does not work

Turn the unit off and then, while holding down the City and Brt buttons, turn it back on. This restores the factory default settings. Worked for mine with the exact same problem. Be sure to use the power switch though. If you just unplug the cord and plug it back in, it won't work.

My bel 980 speaker quit working

On mine you can barely hear it on the 9 setting. I put in a different speaker but no difference. I did look up the number on the IC chip near where the speaker connects (34119) and it came back to a 500 mW audio amplifier, so you could probably replace that and fix it. I think it's what you call a flat-pack style chip. Not as bad as surface mount but will still require a tiny soldering iron. I think the actual part number ended up being MC34119D and should cost a dollar or less.
