Sony Laptop enter key becoming stiff how to solve issue

Hi,
I bought a Sony laptop 6 months ago and have noticed that the enter key is becoming stiff, all other keys are fine.

Am I able to fix this issue myself or do I need to get it seen by an expert? Any ideas how much this will cost (I'm in the UK).

Thank you folks.

My Sony Vaio laptop is six months old, and has the same issue of the "enter" key being very hard to push. I don't eat at my laptop, so I'm puzzled what would cause the problem.

I think you need to open and check, if its stuck somewhere just do the handwork(adjust until its ok), or replace the keyboard, its not really a pro jobs and you can do it yourself. To get the guide to open and and replace your keyboard you can read here: http://eshop.macsales.com/Tech/FTP/pbpismo/pbfw-kybd-cip.pdf

If that is newly installed OS try to check the driver of your laptop is correct. Another option, check your keyboard language settings on the COntrol panel.

The keyboard on my Toshiba laptop suddenly lost the letters T & E function. All the other keys are working. I bought the laptop from Radio Shack 9 months ago. Is there some way to solve the problem?

Nah - not much you can do. The keyboard's gone bad. Most new Toshiba laptops have a year's warranty, so you should call them and have them replace it for free.

My Sony Vaio will suddenly shut down for no apparent reason, as if the battery had just been pulled out, sometime I need to take the battery out and put it back in before that laptop will switch back on....

Yes, is something you can fix. All you need to do is clean up the fan vents. You will need to do some dissemblance. This video gives you an idea how to do it.

Some tips the video doesn't show.
1) Never use a magnet screwdriver. This is a great hazard for your pc.

2) Make sure you work in a table with no cloth on it as this cna have static electricity, which is VERY bad for your pc.

3) Before you start with the pc discharge yourself of any static you might have. Just touch something that's touching the ground.

Hope this helps and fixes your problem. Remember to do this every few months. I do it every 6 to keep it nice and clean. After all dust has static electricity and that's not something I want inside my computers.

Hi it may be virus issue. i suggest you to try with last known good configuration so that it will take your computer to last good working state. for that tab F9(Function key) continously immediately once you turn on your computer until you get the advanced option on your screen. highlight last known good configuration and hit enter and it will boot in that mode once you get the main sceen CLICK start - > all programs- > Accessories - > system tools -> system restore and wizard will open and select Restore my computer to an earlier time click next next finish to set your computer to last good working condition. If that doesnt work reinsatll the OS

My battery is jst plugged in ,its not charging...there is some problem with laptop pins so its hard to connect adapter with laptop..yet i hve purchase it 6 months before...

Hello
If the pins are bent or out of place on the adapter you will need to buy another adaptor.

If you bought this laptop new 6 months ago the store or manufacture warranty should still be good.

After 8 days of no life at all in the laptop , having 2 computer technicians around saying it was probably the motherboard and just about to send to Sony I pressed the power button and hey presto it worked again..Guess it was just sleeping or hibernating...after all it is spring now....Actually one guy of the many forums I have visited advised just to leave the Laptop alone and perhaps it would mend itself..and hey presto he was right, although having said that I have yet to turn the laptop off and startup again..HMMMMMMM...

This leads me to belive you have an issue with your battery over anything else. Below is a link to an application that will help you identify the problem.

BSoD, Garbled Screen, Boot Failure.

If you are getting garbage on the screen before windows tries to load the laptop probably has a bad motherboard.

It's possibly only the video output is going bad on it, try hooking it to an external monitor and see if you get the same weird stuff on that screen.

Good luck, let me know how it goes
