Question about Sony Handycam DCR-DVD108 DVD Camcorder

1 Answer

C:13:02, Disc error. Remove disc. Recording disabled.

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD205 which I have used for nearly two years now without any problem. But now when you insert the mini disc (dvd) or switch it on, it flashes up C:13:02, Disc error. Remove disc. If you were lucky enough to start recording, in the middle it comes up with disc error and recording disabled. All data is lost. Any previous data that was on the disc is lost as well. Can you HELP? Thanks.

I have the same problem described above, however I'm pretty sure its not the disks. I have tried several different ones and even pulled out an old disk that has movies already saved on it, those won't show up at all on the camera now either, but still show up fine on a DVD player/laptop...any ideas?

    Rob-

Thanks for your answer. However, this does not work for me, and likely not for many others on here with the same problem. I only buy Sony brand name disks because I'm not willing to compromise on my precious memories. This is obviously a SONY MANUFACTURER problem. I got some helpful information on this forum months ago regarding Nero. That got SOME data back for me, but not all of it, and not the pieces I was really wanting. It was also a really lengthy process to recover (using IsoBuster and some other free progarms as well). When I called Sony, I got routed to their data recovery services, and they told me that I could mail my disk to their data recovery team for a $50 fee, with no guarantee that anything could be recovered. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not mailing my disk anywhere, because right now I can view it only in the camera, but at least it's there to view. Gahhhh. Never will I buy a Sony camera again. I guess I'll get a Flip.

If anyone out there has a real solution to this problem, please let us know by posting. No diss to you, Rob. It's just frustrating!

I'm sorry to say, that all disk manufactures are not the same. If you used a "no name" disk, then the quality may not be what you want, although in rare cases, even good companys like Memorex can make a bad batch or two. Just try another disk. Let me know if that works by leaving a comment. If this works for you, rate my solution a fixya!

How do I transfer video to PC

The DCR-DVD205 does not support a direct connection to a PC. You have to record to a disc on the camcorder and then play the disc on the PC. Please see the instructions beginning on page 61 of the manual.

My sony handycam carl zeiss says movie recording disabled. What do I do to enable it?

Most probably it is an issue with the disc. If the disc is corrupted, it will display the error message to prevent spoiling the lens of the Camcorder. Please use a different disc and it should resolve the issue. If the issue persists with different discs, it may require service..
However, I suggest that you reset the Camcorder by pressing the Reset button behind the LCD panel (Near to the USB port) on the Camcorder) Please make sure that you have turned ON the Camcorder while pressing the reset button.

I get a message on the screen that says, "recording disabled." How do I fix this? I have a Sony Handycam DVD/RW Wide LCD

This message appears when mini dvd disc got some error in recording tracks, if its rewritable mini disc then format it as option is available in camera settings menu and if disc is once writable then use another disc as it can not be formatted.
Caution: Format will erase/ delete all files on dvd disc and refresh the dvd disc.

SONY HANDYCAM DCR-DVD105 ERROR MSG C:13:02

Try to use a cotton swap to 1st clean the recording lens or blow gently on it. Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc

I have a HANDYCAM SONY DCR-DVD 106, and I keep getting the following message error - "Disc error. Unsupported format - 13:023, with regard to a mini MEMOREX DVD-R.

Disc error. Unsupported format means that ur camera does not support the format of this disc it might not support DVD-R or DVD-RW and supports the DVD+R and +RW try the other format disc and let me know if it resolved , check the manual it is stated on the box or manual which format it supports, if it does not solve ur problem try some other brand instead of MEMOREX try sony,hp,fuji, philips and see actually these sony cameras they are sometimes locked by the manufacturer to only use the original discs for monopoly sony acts like that in every product

pls do rate me if i fixya problem

Problem useing tdk dvd-rw

1. cleaning the laser lens with isopropilic alcohol and q-tip
2. Try the reset button on the bottom of the camera. Tilt your camera and look below the LCD Display Backlight button on the bottom edge of the curved portion of the camera. You will need a paperclip or tip of a ball point pen to push the recessed little button. Place the camera on a level surface and try again. We find that the camera is very sensitive to tilting, as it gets older.
3. Make sure you format format at was FAT not fat32
4. All you need to do is "Quick format" the disk with the CAMERA rather than the memry stick plugged into the computer drive.
5. For sony error c:1301 using mini cd's: there is a program that recovers data from cd's that works with disk that have this error. It called "cdroller" Homepage is : www.cdroller.com
6. just take the memory stick off and re-insert it lot of times.. just keep doing it.
