I have mistakenly turned my dvd recorder to record in region 0 format and cannot return it to region 2. I have tried going through the control panel to the dvdcontrols, however it only states that my dvd is reading in region 2 type, and makes no mention of region type for writting. this is annoying me no end. any suggestions????? Thanx. ps. all this after after reloading WINDOWS XP??

if the photos or even videos are recorded to a CD-R and not a DVD, the region code should not be an issue. You should be able to view the photos and even copy them. Region codes are usually for DVD media.

PHILIPS DVD player 616K, how to change region or get into right region. my player was working OK. Suddenly it stopped functioning and showed/diplayed '' wrong region'' on the TV screen.

Changing the region code for DVD616K :

1. Press OPEN/CLOSE, and wait for the tray to open.

2. Use the remote control to input digital key '1', '1', '1', '0' in that order

if that dont work go 1, 1 1, 1 in that
Kindly leave a few seconds between each entry, the microprocessor is slow
with these entries.
3. Press number '7', '8' or '9' to display the current region code of the DVD
4. Press any number of '0' to '6' to set the required region code. The OSD
will display the new region code of the DVD player.
5. Region '0' will be the setting for multi region
6. The region setting will be saved in the FLASH memory.
7. Press OPEN/CLOSE again, the DVD player will return to normal operation.

note: you want to chose region 0 so u can use all regions

I just bought and set up the vhs to dvd program but when i coppied the video onto the disc and tried to play ti in the dvd player it said disc error.i made sure i followed the hook up!

You have either used a disc that is not compatible with your dvd player, or used the wrong file system for the dvd and/or format, have not finalized the dvd recording.
If you use a dvd-r for recording, the disc has to be finalized, regions use different formats of video(UK=PAL, USA=NTSC)
The easiest way to use your disc would be to convert the video to avi format(xvid divx mp4/3) and burn to a disc as data format.
Use the converter to change the video to avi, use the studio to burn the video as a data disc, you can get up to 14hours per standard dvd(28 hrs on a dual layer). Put the disc in and it will play as a DivX dvd.

Restoring Region Code

Open My Computer and right click on the DVD Drive and pick Properties. Then click Hardware tab. Then select your DVD Drive from the list and click the Properties button at the bottom.
Then click DVD Region tab at the top.
It should tell you how many more region changes are possible. If it says 0 then it is not possible.

You can only do 5 resets of this for the life of the DVD drive.

Instead of resetting it, consider buying a piece of software that lets you disregard region settings, such as AnyDVD (google for it).
