Question about Washing Machines

Drum is filling with water after each wash

Hello,

I do hope you can help :)

We have an Electrolux washer-dryer EWD 12141 and the drum is slowly filling with water (approx 2'') after each wash (the drum is clear of water when wash cycle has finished). We use the RINSE HOLD program before each wash simply to get rid of any collected water in the drum. May the problem have something to do with hard water?

Many thanks in advance.

There is only 2 possibilities for the drum to fill with water after it has finished.
Firstly, if the empty pipe is connected to the sink outlet pipe, the water can syphon back into the washer if the pipe is too low, thereby slowly filling the washer when not in use.
Solution is to lift the outlet pipe higher.than the bottom of the sink.
The other reason is the inlet valve is not shutting off properly.
To prove if this is the case, turn the water off at the valve, if it is hot and cold fill, then turn the hot off only, and wait and see if water comes in over a period of time, if it does not then you need to replace the hot valve.
If water stills comes in with hot turned off, then you need to replace the cold valve.
If cold fill only , turn off cold and wait to see if any water comes in, if it does not, then replace cold valve.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

My ewd 12141 trips the electric

If this machine is new, the circuit may have inadequate amps.
If the machine has been in place for a while, and this is a new problem, you may need an electrician to test the circuit breaker. They do wear out and need replacement.

After doing wash ...while empty and off...the washer slowly fills up with water overnight...approx 3" deep of water in drum...slow leak valve maybe?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Yep!
If your washer is both hot and cold fill turn one of them off overnight. You will then tell which water inlet control valve is not closing correctly and therefore which one needs replacing ;-0)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck,

The washer fills slowly with water when not in use. It drains without any problem when drain/spin cycle is used.

Most likely the water inlet valves on your washing machine have failed. You may have noticed larger amounts of water in the clothes drum when the washing machine hasn't been used for a few days, this is because the valves may still be open allowing water to drip into the clothes drum.

Here is a link to the part that you need to buy: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/WHIRLPOOL-Washer-water-inlet-valve--universal-item-number-AP3098982.aspx.

And a link to a video showing you how to replace the part: http://www.ultimatehandyman.org/video/appliance_repair/water-inlet-valve.php
Hope this helps!

WF860 drum filling with water

Normally I would think that the problem is with the drain system (faulty pump or clogged lines), but you told me that also "When the washing machine is not bein.g used the drum slowly starts to fill with water!!" therefor I think it can be a dafective inlet valve or a faulty control assembly.
In either case, you will need a technician to fix this.

Re EW1200i : drum keeps filling with water

is it overfilling? if so you have a problem with the pressure side of the system and it would need cleaning out.
