Question about Olevia MN-20LCDTV-SN 20 in. EDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Oliva LCD tv has developed streaks in the screen.

I bought an Olivia 327-S12 LCD tv a couple of years ago and it has just developed streaks on the screen and I can't seem to get rid of them. The steaks actually look like dark stains, as if someone has spilled some coke on the screen. The rest of the screen looks great and I can still see the picture through that darkened area but obviously it's a distraction when watching tv. I've tried adjusting picture settings to no avail.

any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Thank you both for responding. Your answers have pretty much confirmed my suspicions. Here's a picture of my screen as you requested Lone99star.

Dan, thank you very much for your explanation of what's going on with my LCD screen. I'll start pricing things out and see what I can find.

    Thanks again.

It looks like a Burn in Image i have the same Problem with my 47 inch Olevia

Can you take a photo of the screen with a digital camera and post it here.
It sounds like the screen may be cracked and bleeding internally.

This is an indication of damage to the LCD panel itself. Unfortunately this can not be "repaired". The panle itself needs to be replaced. The replacement panel can easily cost almost as much as a replacement TV, so check around for pricing. You may want to try to locate another defective TV that has a good panel but electronic problems and swap the panel.

What you are seeing is a deterioration of the internal polarization film. This is within the LCD panel itself and is a manufacturing problem or a defect in the film itself. As I stated this can not be "fixed". The panel will eventually need to be replaced.

You may have to try reseating the ribbon cables between the T-CON board and the LCD panel, this is very DELICATE operation, if you are not sure, do not do it.
See example of bad T-CON, LCD panel here:

It can be problem of LCD panel of your TV. An image of TV screen would help to diagnose correctly, if you can post it here.
Thanks.

Dark shadow-like vertical streaks thru LCD screen (Sharp)

Hi, I have a Sony Grand Wega LCD Projection TV that has a blotted gray streak across the front of the screen. I only use a damp cloth to clean the window and that doesn't seem to help. It really shows up on light pictures and is unnoticed when the picture is a little darker. What can I do to fix this problem???

42 in oliva lcd turned off then went to turn it on a couple of hours later and wont turn back on

Hello Dell ok the problem with your tv set is coming from the power supply board but lets try acouple of things disconnect your tv set from the wall for about 15 seconds plug it back in see what happens if that does not work try another plug in your house see what happens if none of the above procedures work then your power supply board has a faulty component or the board itself is faulty and you might have to replace the board, what i would suggest is to contact oliva tv company and see if they have the psb if they do go ahead and get it you should be able to change it out yourself with the instructions that come with the board just be very careful when doing so thank you hope this helps.

You need to get a User's Manual. Go to http://www.retrevo.com/samples/Olevia-LCD-TV-manuals.html and download one. If it is not the exact model, the programing info show be very similar.
