Question about HP DeskJet 5550 InkJet Printer

I don't know what the problem is

I printed out map directions two days ago and then yesterday i tried to print out a yard sale flyer and it would not work. the orange light at the top where the X is keeps blinking. I uninstalled the software and then installed it again and it would not print the sample page either. I reset it and the computer. I checked my connections and did everything the computer troubleshooting told me to do. I put in fresh ink and there is not problem with paper. I don't think that I need to pay geeks two dollars a minute to fix this. Please help

This light signifies there is a paper jam. If you are SURE there is no paper stuck, check the door sensor o the bottom right and spin the rubber wheels on the inside a bit! Hope this helps!

That is not changeable and is not part of the Canon settings. There is a work-around though, in fact two.

In sites like Google Maps there is a setting to print the map and the directions separately. This _might_ make them easier to read.

What I would do though is to copy and paste the directions into Word or WordPad and enlarge the text there before printing.

There is no way to enlarge the fonts used in the map itself. This is a bug bear with me too. You zoom the map in to read the street names and they immediately shrink or disappear off the screen!

I have to comment though, in car GPS whether as a portable unit or built into the car is the way to go. I haven't used a map for about 8 years.

Replaced both color and black cartridges. Prints only color when I try to print a flyer with both text and picture.

The black print head nozzles maybe blocked.
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent blocked print head nozzles. You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the print then a new print head is required.

I tried to print a route map from MapQuest, but it didn't print. I tried to cancel the printing, but it's been deleting since yesterday and been blocking any other document I tried to print

Restart both your printer and your computer. It might finish the print job after you restart the printer and yes it will block any other print jobs.

I just baught the epson sx218 yesterday but fuind it very very slow at printing

Try another USB cable or USB port. Its the data processing that is taking than usual when printing.

Go into your control pannel and open up "Printers". Right click on the printer you are using and select "Properties". In the box that comes up choose "advanced"
In the middle of the menu box there should be "Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster" below it is "Print directly to the printer"
Change the option to Print directly and then press Apply at the bottom, this will get rid of the "Serial Job Number" that comes up before printing. :o)

Low Toner Warning

Turn the unit off. Remove the cartridge and shake it back and forth. Ten place it and turn the unit back on. Also you can reset the counter on the cartridge, go to UNI KIT and look under Brother TN 110 refill support. These people sell refills. The ink you get with he printer is minimal. Also turning the printer off and back on will help with resetting. I found that there is plenty of toner left when the warning comes on.

Not printing everything

In your printer driver Cd there are three type of hp laserjet 1200 installations you can find out. pcl5/pcl-6 /and ps versions. Try to print your bill form through these three driver sioftwares.And moreover i want to know that what software format you are using in your bill printing ?.

Black will not print

Hi springfield, From what you describe I don?t think it has anything to do with your printer drivers. I would try the following: -Run a couple of nozzle cleaning jobs. -If no change I would suspect a defective cartridge and would try a brand new HP cartridge. If these don?t work I?ll need some more details such as do you refill cartridges, buy remanufactured cartridges or use new HP. Also is this still under manufacturer?s warranty? I don?t want to suggest anything that would void it. Let us know what happens and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
