My DVD Player is skipping all of my DVD's...

It doesn't matter if the DVD is brand new or 4 years old, my DVD player is skipping all of them. About a month ago, I took the cover off and vacuumed out the inside of the DVD player really good for the 1st time since I owned it. That seemed to work for 3 weeks, now it is back to skipping every DVD. Please Help! Is there a replacement part that I can repair myself? I'm desperate!!! Tim

Hello Tim, there is a special disc for cleaning the optical unit (laser) with cleaning liquid. Please try this first, but if you need more info please advice. Best regards, Arpi

Pioneer xv-hdt520 stereo dvd/cd player cant get it to play cd,s works fine on the dvd part of it and all discs are read by the same reader it just tries to start then boots the cd out no matter which...

I would guess this model is over two years old. not sure how much you paid, but target sells a decent surround sound blue ray system for just under 300. i got it. it works great, streams netflix movies an even has an internet radio system in it.

if you dont wanna do that, and have made sure that you have tried brand new cds, another option is to play cds on a cheap cd player hooked into your surround sound. it can go in any input on the back with an adaptor you can buy at radio shack, or many of them have an input in the front.

they used to make a cd lens cleaner, not sure if they still exist. it was a tiny brush hooked onto a cd that you put in and it cleaned up the lens.

bottom line is that it makes little to no sense to me that it would play dvds and not cds. i would assume that they both use the same lens to read the device.

Brand new dvds stop working in divd player

You may need a new DVD drive. Find out about it here, or maybe just a firmware update:

No matter what i put in for a DVD, brand new, it skips constantly. i've put in a cleaner to clean the lens and it took abut a hr to get the dvd player to read the disc, kept saying NO DISC when clearly...

The cleaner cds are worthless and do nothing, infact I have seen damage to laser lenses from these cleaners. They should not even be sold. Your answer is to go to the tips and read my tip on proper cleaning of CDs and DVDs. The url is I just posted this today. Let me know if it helps you.

No power to Insignia dvd player.

Pop the top of the DVD player and check the fuse. It's located right next to the AC power plug on the inside. If the fuse is OK, replace the DVD player. Repairs cost more than a new unit. Sony has DVD players from $ 40. Any repair on any device would cost more than that. If your lucky, the unit just took a surge and blew the fuse. Hope this helps

I believe I have the solution....but it depends on your dvd player's zuxilarily capabilities. Do you have a second set of OUTPUT plugs that are colored Red and White on the back of the TV? Do you have a separate Red and White INPUT plugs on the back of the dvd? The TV must use the speakers in the DVD system by pushing the sound OUT. You cannot accomplish this if the dvd is only pluged into the INPUT of the tv.
\Another option is o make sure your DVD player has a "auxilary" or separate input channel on the console or remote.
I have a DVD home theatre system as well, not the same brand, but that shouldn't make a difference . Its a matter of how the sound is received.

Hope that helped.

Philips HTS6510 dvd player useless ..

This is because you DVD player's lense got too old. Try to clean that with a good Lense Cleaner. If the problem persists, change the Lense for the same.

Movie freezes, skips.

Does sound like the laser. Realitically, not worth repairing. I'd say you'd be worth connecting a cheap DVD player to the system - then the Sony can carry on providing the surround sound audio and the new DVD player can provide the video. Then, if the cheap DVD player is still going, it can move to a bedroom TV if and when you replace the surround system....

Otherwise, I would imaging the speaker set (and even the non-working DVD player) on its own might fetch a reasonable price on an auction site - anyone who has a stolen DVD unit will probably be desparate for the speakers as Sony don't sell them separately!

All dvds skips evan brand new ones

Return the unit to the store which you purchased it from. You have an internal problem with the scanner (led) You can first try to clean the led this could be your problem. They sell lens cleaning dvd disks. try it, you have nothing to loose. If this does not work, just bring it back.

Problem with sound skiping on Bose Lifestyle 8

would not exactly agree with bose proposed solution, however easy to test......

borrow a dvd palyer of a different model and type , ensure that the output from the dvd player is set correctly ie. 5.1

you need to verify that the co ax you are useing is not damaged, faulty and is connected both ends correctly,

if bose give you some hassle get a spare set of cable to be sure the connect or to the co- ax is not damaged in any way.

lastly :
i suggest there is a problem with the on board decode for dolby 5.1, known as SPDIF = "S P diff " ( a system designed in conjunction with SONY and PHILIPS and used on nearly every 5.1 decoder sold in the world) easy to fix its usually a firmware upgarde or reset usually done in the factory, simple problem, could have been caused by electrical interference or unusual magnetisim problem post manufacturing or possible on site problem, however from your point of view impossible to prove either way.

must point out that analog cables don't carry a 5.1 signal. and also should point out that co -ax is not 100% necessary nor the only way to push a 5.1 signal into that bassbox.

check your cables first , then borrow a dvd player, then bring it back to bose and tell them to fix it. if its still wrong.
