You most likely need the drivers. Sony no longer makes them available so, make sure you burn a copy of these drivers for yourself.

How do convert recorded media from read only to media that can be downloaded and edited from a panasonic SDR-H100 video camcorder?

If your media is an SD card, there's a switch on the side to change from "read only" to "read-write". Otherwise, you can simply copy the file to your computer for editing.

I can't download my videos. i don't have in my lap top the port ieee. i bought a small conector (dv to usb) this may help me .i want to download my videos . please help me

You will require a firewire cable and DV in port on the computer, That's IEEE1394a or b.
You can try that DV-USB connection gadget, it may transcode the footage for viewing only, not editing.
Read the fine print in the manual to check if will accomplish the desired task.

I have DCR-HC 36E and as the PMB given as an alternative for Windows 7 comes with an ilink connection which is not there i n my computer. is there any USB driver for this camcorder.

This solution is only applicable for the selected camcorder models. You can follow the steps mentioned below for the DCRHC36 models.

  • Turn on the computer.
  • On the computer, install the USB driver from the CD-ROM supplied with the camcorder.

Only the USB driver included on the supplied CD-ROM will properly enable the camcorder for USB streaming. The USB Streaming Driver can only be installed from the supplied Software CD.

  • Turn the camcorder on to the PLAY/EDIT mode.
  • Turn on the USB streaming feature in the camcorder menu. P-MENUPICT.APPLI.MenuUSB SELECTSTREAM
  • Connect the USB cable to the camcorder.
  • Connect the other end of the USB cable to the computer.
  • Cue the video to the beginning of the video footage to be transferred.
  • Start the video capture software on the computer. You can try Software like Windows Movie Maker

o NOTE: The computer must have compatible video capture software to complete this procedure. Many video editing software applications include a capture function. If you have video editing software, you might not need a separate video capture application.

  • Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
  • Begin importing the recorded video with the capture software.

Good Luck

Can not find USB in the menu setting

Try you "firewire" cable. If you do not have a IEEE 1394 port on you computer add one on the PCI bus, or you will have to get some unit to convert the analog output(A/V cable-port) of the camera to digital via the USB. [Turtle Beach-Dazzle- etc] Unless your camera's OEM editing/ingest program is made to connect through USB, the camera will ship only stills via USB. The audio and video transport via "firewire"/ IEEE 1394 ports. Edit with what ever you want, but I suggest "Scenalyzer" to ingest to you computer from your camera.

Can't get my computer to recognize the device

You may use different USB ports. Make sure your computer USB is v2.0 Computer's Bios and Chipset update could be a possible solution. You may also try Firewire/1394 Connection which is more reliable and faster for video editing and conversion.

Usually in professional use hook up the Camcorder directly to the computer is not very preferred, Using DV converters are more common such as Canopus products as you can find them on

Editing a DVD-R

I guess you read this on page 5 of the user manual.

DVDs initialised in VIDEO mode cannot be edited on the camcorder . However, they can be played on most DVD players and can be edited on a PC, but they must be finalised on the camcorder first.

Once finalised, there is no problem in downloading to a computer, but as the Canon DC210 does not have a USB connection the 'download' consists of taking the finalised DVD from the camcorder to the PC and working with it on the PC.

To finalise make sure you have the camcorder connected to the mains through the power adapter and the mains switched on before you start. Then switch on the camcorder and follow the instructions on page 61 of the user manual.

There is no need to transfer the DVD to a DVD-RW format to edit it.

Take your finalised DVD and place it in your PC DVD drive - you can use the operating system functions to transfer the DVD contents to a folder on the PC.

You'll need some commercially available software to edit the files you've transferred - a couple of suggestions are Magix, Adobe - there are many programs available.

Don't forget to rate this solution once you've tried it !

And good luck with the school project.

Transfer footage from DVD to Computer for editing

I use ISO Buster to read the AVCHD footage into my computer and then edit with Pinnacle Studio. With ISO Buster, you place the 3" AVCHD DVD into your regular DVD Rom drive on your computer and it will rip the raw files directly from the disk. You cannot transfer the movies from the DX1 to Pinnacle or any other editor using the USB cable.
