No sound from my computer. It says there is "No Audio Device" when I click on the volume control. Is the sound card incorporated in the motherboard? My motherboard's name is Asus P4GE-MX. thanks.

One way to know if you have Integrated Audio, is to see if the speakers plug into audio ports on the motherboard.
The Asus P4GE-MX does have audio ports on the motherboard.

(Integrated is also known as OnBoard. ON the motherBOARD.
The device chip is soldered to the motherboard.

Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_Circuit )

Asus Support > P4GE-MX

http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=JdzKwFSqhlt5OPiW

Click on the Specifications tab.

Audio - ALC655
6 - Channel Codec

You need to download the Driver file, and install it. (Device driver)

(A Device Driver is a small piece of software that allows the O/S to 'communicate' with the device, and vice-versa, and also programs that utilize that device.
O/S = Operating System. One example is Windows XP.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_driver )

Click on the Downloads tab.
Now click on the + sign to left of Audio (1)
Click on Global (DLM) or China. I suggest Do Not click on P2P

Type the characters you see in the Captcha box. (Letters/Numbers. For letters be SURE to put CAPITAL letters)
Click on Submit.

[ If you want the Motherboard Manual for your P4GE-MX, click on the Downloads tab.
{It will state 0 files found}

Then to the right of the Operating System box, click on the blue Down Arrow.
Now click on WinXP.
{Doesn't matter WHAT O/S you're running, a motherboard manual IS A motherboard manual.
Asus, sheesh!}

Now click on the + sign to the left of Manual (5)
Go down the list until you come to the heading -
Version E1862

Now click on Global (DLM) or China. (I'm in the USA, and have better luck with the China server)
Type the letters/numbers you see in the Captcha box. (Use CAPITAL letters!)
Click on Submit ]

I have no sound it says no output device installed what can i do to get it fixed with out have to pay for it

If your sound-card is "integrated" on your motherboard, then access the web-site for the manufacturer of the motherboard, and download the "audio" device-driver for XP/Vista/7, and install the driver.

If your sound-card is a PCI add-in card, then access the web-site for the manufacturer of the sound-card, and download the "audio" device-driver for XP/Vista/7, and install the driver, e.g., 'www.SoundBlaster.com' for the Creative Labs "Sound Blaster" series of sound-cards.

Without more information on the specifics of your sound-card, I cannot be more specific.

No sounds on pc

No problem :) and you are correct, your sound card is integrated to your motherboard. The problem now is that after re-formatting, you have not installed the driver software for the sound card. You need sound card drivers for the G31T-M motherboard. Go to the link below and click on "External Mirror 1" or "External Mirror 2" and download the driver software. Install this, and restart your computer once. This ought to solve your problem!

Do inform me if this solves your problem!
Happy troubleshooting!

Hello.

Hello.
There are two kind of sound devices that can be inside a pc:
- Integrated on board ( in your motherboard).
- Sound card ( a card that is plugged in one of the motherboard slots).
If you have any installed, you will need to install a software called " Sound driver " for that specific device, in order to make it work.
you can find the software in one of the CDs you get usually with the computer when you buy it.
If you don't have that CD, to find that driver you need to know the kind, model and manufacturer of that device, if you have the integrated one, you should visit the motherboard manufacturer website.
For the card go to the card manufacturer website or do a google search, there are sites where you can get the drivers(the last applies for the motherboard too.)

Hope this help you.

Hello.
.
There are two kind of sound devices that can be inside a pc:
- Integrated on board ( in your motherboard).
- Sound card ( a card that is plugged in one of the motherboard slots).
To be sure if you have any, check the all the connectors, the sound one is a miniplug jack( small hole in which your headphones plug will fit).
you will usually find three of this:
- Audio out ( here you will plug your speakers)
- Mic ( this one is for Microphone)
- Aux ( auxiliary- used as input for something like a walkman, etc).
If you don't have any ( rare if you have a modern pc)
you will have to find out themake and model of your motherboard
and post it.
If you have any installed, you will need to install a software called " Sound driver " for that specific device, in order to make it work.
you can find the software in one of the CDs you get usually with the computer when you buy it.
If you don't have that CD, to find that driver you need to know the kind, model and manufacturer of that device.
you can post here that info and ask for help or if you have the integrated one, you should visit the motherboard manufacturer website.
For the card go to the card manufacturer website or do a google search, there are sites where you can get the drivers(the last applies for the motherboard too.)

Hope this help you.
Good luck.

Hello from Canada !! Yes you certainly can. You have to go into Start---->Control Panel----->System----->Hardware---->Device Manager---->Sound And Game Controllers. From here you can disable the on board sound once before your new card is installed. Once you have the driver installed for the card, you may have to reboot the system. Any further questions, just ask. Good luck
