Most heaters have safety switches on them in case they turn over. Ohm the wires and make sure the switch is closed. Most of them are inside and on the side of the heaters. They have 2 wires on them.

How to open Cozy gas heater

See if you can blow out the dust with compressed air. Make sure you get ALL the dust out...that dust could ignite & start a fire!!!! If you can't, don't use the heater. Be sure to re-assemble per original design; or if you can't, don't use the heater!

The Cozy Console Pilot flame has been off less than a hour today 07-07 2010 can we wait till the spring time to put back on or call the Gas- company?

Hi, if you are saying that its off now and is it OK to leave it off until spring, yes it is. If you want it to stay off, you can also shut the gas off at the flex line that supplies gas to the unit. Just turn the small handle to the off position, this is just for added safety.

My Cozy Wall Heater won't turn off! Even when the thermostat is in the off position it just keeps running. I need to physically turn off the gas supply to get it to stop. When it turn it back on i need to...

If the unit has a wall thermostat, remove one of the wires from the thermostat. If the unit stops it indicates a bad thermostat. If it continues to heat, remove one of the wires coming from the thermostat going to the gas valve inside the heater. If it continues to heat you have a bad gas valve. If the heater shuts off, you have a bad thermostat wire (short).

The heater will not ignite properly

How old is the thermostat? Also there a limit switches at different points on that unit. If you have a volt ohm meter find the round disc like safety's and ohm them out. Take the wires off the disc before testing them. You should have a continuity should be closed they only open if unit gets too hot. Say something like 180 degree's.

A fast way to check out the thermostat is take a small diameter wire take the cover off the t-stat and jump across the R and the W on the t-stat. If the furnace comes on then t-stat bad. Let me know if this is helpfull. Ken

Cozy heater

That piece that fell out is probably the pilot orifice. It goes on the end of the pilot gas line when you screw it into the pilot assembly. Don't try to light the heater without the orifice. If your thermocouple is good and the pilot flame is set properly, the control valve could be bad. Be sure to hold the knob down for 60 seconds before releasing it.

Pilot Light Goes Out

The VC701 has a safety switch located on the back of he heater that may be tripping after the call for heat is satisfied. Check that there is a good draft by testing with a match. Make sure the flame is drawn toward the vent system when the unit is off and cooling down. Check it at the draft diverter located below where the vent pipe is attached. It is a box with an open bottom. If the draft is not pulling air toward the vent system, the heat from the cooling heater will trigger the safety switch and shut off the pilot. You may have to raise the vent pipe to establish a draft.
