I have problems with charging the phone. It has become an increasing annoyance that when I tried to charge my P168 to either the wall charger or mainly the computer when I plug the USB cord that the "Earphone plugged in" message pops up on the phone.

Your new battery might has some issues. Put your old battery back on and try your charging cord and base. If it starts charging your old battery; it means new battery has a problem. If old battery doesn't charge too; i suggest you to try a working charger. If it still doesn't response; most probably during replacement process; you damaged pins of your phone's charging port connector.
If broken pin is at above red circuled area; you are lucky because it has price around $5. But if broken pin is at motherboard side, it may cost you around $50 or more due to motherboard repair.
First Option: mostly nokia chargers doesn't make problems... just try the following.. connect ur mobile with a system (usb cable)... found out whether it is charging or not... if the same prblm appears then there is a prblm in ur cell phone or power jack(socket)... if it charged with usb cable buy a new charger Please change Phone Bettery and check the charging IF Charging Problem not Solved So
Second Option: Your Phone charging IC Fault So Please change charging IC And charging Problem will Solved Quickly
1.The usb connection uses about 5v charge and is utilized from your phones battery. So charge become less.
2.If your charger pin is loose when you plug in the charger it shows "charging" for that instance only and it won't charge.
Try replace the charger
The charger is a lil on the cheap side so u have to be very careful charger stays in the wall!,but the good thing is that u have two batterys and its easiesr to just put battery in the charger by itself to charge and its red and green and steady green when fully charged, good luck...!
you should have 2 batteries with it ...take battery out put other one in making sure in correctly seated...plug into pc via usb see if charging icon comes on ...once enough charge in to startup phone try other battery ...when charging you can press and hold top button on phone to startup if enough power...
this issue directly related with the charging circuitry... the issue
can either be with the charger itself or majorly with the charging ic
i had faced this problem with the chinese mobile phone but this can be
either with the chinese model or can be with the other...so check the
both things one by one...hopefully the issue will be resolved..
my cect i9 was not charging from usb I though it was the cable but after I took out battery and scrapped the 3 contacts on the batttery with my fingernail it started to charge and be recognized by computer again
it might be the battery. cause batteries on cell phones only last for so long [depending on how long you've had it] or you might just have a bad phone. go to the phone company where your phone is from, and tell them about it, and they'll probably give you a new phone.
Im sure the primary problem with your phone is within your charging terminal/charging port. It needs to replace a new one, maybe because it might losen or partially damage. You should bring your phone to a cellphone service shop and ask them if they have a charging terminal/charging port just like yours and let them replace the new one. Also try insert your phone to a different charger that you sure that is ok, observe if desame happens. We can't ignore also that it might be the charger that has the problem.
