In some cases the buzz is external. The vibration of the unit may just cause a tray, flat surface, or other surrounding attachments to rattle and buzz. Look for anything that may be loose or laying on or about the TV.

You should Google the model number with "problems" as there are several sites with good information on this set.

I would suspect this model does not have a color wheel but if it does it would be suspect number one.

Sets that use a wheel that turns at 12,000 rpm will fail. I would (if I was working on the set ) take rear cover off and try to localize where the sound is coming from) Likely: the ballast that powers the lamp will buzz sometimes when bad or lamp is bad.

Remove lamp and inspect to see it is not shattered.

A fan (one on the lamp) could cause this but rarely.

Look, listen, and do some research with Google.

last resort Call Sony with model number (expect them to tell you take it to shop--usual response)

Just replaced the lamp inside of a misubishi dlp wd-52525 the tv will turn on then turn off after a couple of minutes. The tv has sound but no picture

1) make sure the lamp door is properly aligned

2) listen to hear the sound of the ballast board trying to ignite the lamp. It will buzz then pause then buzz, etc its a soft noise, so listen closely.

3) watch for the green LED on the TV's front panel. If it blinks continously, there's a major problem with capacitors on several circuit boards requiring an expensive and time consuming repair.

When tv is on it makes a loud buzzing noise

What is the make an and model of the set?

Is the buzzing from the speakers or from inside of the set?

Is it a high pitched frequency buzz or a low pitched frequency buzz?

There are many things that can cause a buzz in a TV set. In anycase, the set will require tech service.
