Hi,
Did you tried using another monitor? ok if same problem occurs then you need to replace the VGA card. you will get it in the market. This card can be inserted in PCI, PCI express slots...

Thank you......

P5KPL-AM mb bios only four line display

Try another monitor, if problem still exists your VGA is damaged, if youre using the onboard vga then connect a PCIex vga card get into bios (suppose the display problem is solved) and disable the onboard VGA option. Keep your pc running like this (using external VGA adaptor).

No vga

Make sure you have connected the VGA cable to the right VGA socket. If you have one on the motherboard and have a separate one on the graphics card, the graphics card usually takes priority over the motherboard one. If its not the case, remove the graphics card and then check in the BIOS to make sure the graphics card has priority an connect the VGA cable to it.

Obviously if the graphics card lacks VGA connectors and only offers DVI or HDMI connectors you will need an adapter to make the VGA work on the card.

Hi, could you tell me how/if i can connect my Acer Aspire 5742 laptop to my televison please, Thanks Alix

Hello,

Hopefully your laptop has a VGA output, if you do not know what that is there is a link below:

http://www.computertroublesolver.com/image-files/laptop-vga-connection.jpg

Now check to see if your tv also has a VGA output most modern tv's do now, if it does buy yourself a VGA cable but with both the same connectors at each end then just plug one side into your laptop then the other into the TV.

if not buy yourself a vga to rca cable which look like this: http://networkcable-tester.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/vga-to-rca-cable2.jpg

hopefully your tv does have an rca output.

here is where you can by a VGA to VGA cable quite cheap: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002N2KY54/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000WTT0EG&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=1K0C1AGYT9XC9CHTQ1KV
here is a VGA to RCA cable : http://www.amazon.co.uk/1-8M-VGA-LEAD-CABLE-LAPTOP/dp/B000P3NZ68/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1310838406&sr=1-1

Hope this helps.
