Question about Philips GoGear HDD1830 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Music seconds dont start counting and theres no sound!

I have a GoGear mp3 player, model # HDD1635/17
It turns on and everything but does nothing
All it does is when you go into the song, the song name scrolls as normal but the seconds dont start counting and theres no sound! Its not paused. Ive tried that soft reset (vol. up and power buttons) but it doesnt change anything. I don't have XP and all the firmware is only good for XP.

Thankyou very much for helping, but I just looked at the mp3 player and it is an 6gb instead of an 8gb I do not have a pin hole restart button so I still have the same problem. I really thankful for the help. If you know how to fix a model # HDD1635/17 6gb go gear I would be so happy thanks.

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

I would recommend resetting the player using the below steps:

  • Press down on and hold the "Power" button on your Philips GoGear MP3 player.
  • Press down on and hold the "Volume Up" button on your Philips GoGear MP3 player. Continue to hold both of these buttons down for three consecutive seconds. The MP3 player will turn itself off.
  • Press and hold "Power" until your Philips GoGear MP3 player turns itself back on. Your GoGear should function like it normally does.

Hope the above steps help you to resolve the issue. Please revert back for further assistance.

NO sound??

Make sure the volume is turned up sufficiently. If it is, then get it exchanged if still in warranty.

If you find that the GoGear will not load the firmware upgrade, then:
1) Backup all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

You will now be able to load the upgrade

Also, if the Philips Device Manager says that your device is already updated with the latest software, then go to: www. usasupport. philips. com,and enter in your model number, SA5125/37, on the next page select SA5125/37 (not "37B"), on the next page click on software and drives, and click on Firmware Upgrade Software - this will ensure that your player really has been given the most current firmware upgrade

Must do repair first, then firmware upgrade (warning: this will delete all your music).

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

You must do a firmware upgrade to resolve this issue.

Open Philips Device Manager (Go to Start--> all Programs--> Philips...), and click on Update tab

OR

You can get it from www.usasupport.philips.com
It will delete all songs off your player, so be forewarned
Enter your model number on the website, click the link on next page that says SA 5125/37 w/o a "b" on the end
Click on Software and drivers tab
Click on firmware upgrade software - instructions enclosed

Philips mp3 play isnt working

WARNING!! THERE IS NO WAY TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WITHOUT LOSING ALL OF YUOR SAVED MUSIC. I reread my instruction manual, and it says to hold down the power button and the volume button at the same time. This will cause a shut down/immediate reset. Your MP3 should come back on in a few seconds. When I did this, I had alrealy lost all of my music, so that part didn't really matter. (By the way, I never have gotten my music back, even though the 'My Computer' function on my PC tells me it's still there, when I disconnect from the USB and try to access it, there's nothing there.)
