Password block I am trying to get to the config page and when I type in the default gateway of 192.168.1.1, I get stalled on the password page. I've tried using username admin and both password and admin as the password. Is there anyway to bypass the password prompt so I can get to the config page?

If you dont know the password than last option is to reset the unit to company default and than you can login with admin and password admin. To reset it to company default there is reset button behind it so press it by pen point for 5 to 10 secs. So this my resolve your problem

I need to find security key or passphrase for my linksys wrt54g

If it's a new router OR If you forgot the password you can follow the given solution. If you've also forgotten the default username and password then on the back of the router you will find a pinhole for resetting. Disconnect all cables from the router except the power. Put a pin in the hole and hold it there till all lights goes off and comes back on again. Then follow the steps mentioned below.

Click on Start - Click on Run
Type "CMD" - Click on OK
Type IPConfig and hit Enter on the black CMD screen
You will get the IP address and default gateway. Write down the default gateway and close the CMD window.

Goto Internet Explorer or the browser you are using. Enter the default gateway on the address bar and press enter. You will get a window to type user name and password. You can use the default username and password as given below if you have not changed it.
Default username = admin
Default password = admin

I don't remember my network key,so I cannot use it

Try to connect you computer with an Ethernet cord. If the Internet is working check the default gateway of the computer by typing "ipconfig" on the command prompt. Type the default gateway on the address bar. There you will see the login page for your wireless router. Check the default username and password from the router's manual and enter it. If it accept the user name and password, look for the wireless settings, password should be seen there. If not create a new one. If default user name and password doesn't work reset the router. There should be a reset button or pinhole on the back of the router. Press and hold it for 10seconds. Try again typing the default gateway on the address bar then re enter the default user name and password. If it work your router now do not have a network key (unsecured). You can create a new network key on the router's configuration page.

Hello, Trying to get into the Config Software

Try the other common ones: 192.168.1.1, 192.168.100.1, 192.168.0.1, 192.168.10.1.

If those doesn't work, open a command prompt, and then type in ipconfig /all. Look for the value in the Default Gateway, and use that.

I'm trying to get into my router config settings

From your computer, go to start, the run, then put in cmd and press ok. This will get you to a black screen.
Put in the following and press enter:

ipconfig /all

Look for the gateway ip address. This is your router ip address. That should get you to the router from your url in a browser.

If this solves your problem, please leave feedback.

I am trying to secure my router with password but

would you mind providing make and model of router? You can connect to the router with ethernet cable and look at your Gateway IP address. Take that ip address and type into your browser as http://XX.XX.XX.XX Where the XX's are your gateway ip address. this will get you to your routers config page. From there you can try the default password for the router then go on the actually configuration. But its hard to direct further without know specific make and model.

Disable firewall on your computer. It seems that it's blocking you from getting in the setup page. you may also try using another computer to login just to isolate your problem

Password not working

There is no way to bypass this... all you can do is reset the router.

On the back you will find a hole with a reset button inside. You have to press it with a writing pen.

Press the button with the pen while unpluging and reattaching the power cable to the router. Continue holding down the reset button for 10-15 seconds after the power is re-applied.

Then you should be able to access the router by 192.168.1.1 and using the user = admin and password = admin.
