Question about Kenwood KAC-8152D Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

Kac-8152d powers on, but no power output to subs

I have a kenwood KAC-8512d amp and i had it professionally installed to power two 12" kickers. It worked great for about a year or so and while ill was driving one day, my subs just quit working. I thought it was faulty wiring from the amp to the subs so i got new and better wire and hooked em up and got nothin. Moral of the story is, the amp's power light shows that its on, but it does not put out any power and ive checked its fuse and its good. Any suggestions?

Well, the sad thing is, it can be a number of things. You will have to do a process of elimination. Try replacing the amp first, borrow one off a friend. Second try replacing the subs. If those don't work, read the manual to your deck. Find the audio settings, and check to see if the sub section is "on".

bigger the better my friend. Look at your Peak RMS output, and how long of wire you need. Then you could make the judgment call on how thick or what gauge you need. (2 involved factors power + distance). id say 10 gauge and you would be fine.

Kenwood kac-7202 wirng 4 subs

look at the Z [impedance] specs for the amp. Look at the Z for the speakers. You may eventually have to wire them in a series-parallel config or risk blowing your output transistors.

Due to the utilization of so many drivers, your power demands are limited. The more drivers you utilize, the more volume loss. Bass response requires a lot of power (W) in which to drive.

Do not worry about paper or polyprop/carbonate structures... focus on your impedance issue or risk frying the output transistors in the long run [thermal runaway].

Install my Kenwood KAC-9102D in my 2006 Acura RSX Type S

You will probably need to use a Line Output Converter (LOC). They're available at virtually any shop that sells car audio.

Many times, the outputs of the OEM amplifier will have significant DC voltage on them. This could damage the input circuits on the kenwood amplifier.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

How to install kenwood kac-9102d in 2006 acura rsx

My recommendation is to get a line level converter. Go to a car audio shop or even best buy and specifically ask for a line level converter. It will have speaker wires in and RCAs out. Connect the speaker wires to the sub woofer speaker wires and then you will have the RCAs to run to your amp. I hope this helped.

Amp won't turn on don't know if amp is fried

Very possible that you have a blown power supply in the amp. If you are running a mono amp then there is a very good chance that you have loaded your amp with too low of a speaker impedence and fried the power supply and maybe the output section of the audio area. Hope this helps.
