Are you talking about remote assistance? If so, you need to specify whether xp or vista, it makes a difference because XP only uses one port, whilst Vista opens random ports.

What do you mean be remote? Do you mean where you can remotely access your computer?

Linksys WRT160 router doesn't work

Wi-Fi Protected Setup Button
If you have client devices, such as wireless adapters, that
support Wi-Fi Protected Setup, then you can
use Wi-Fi Protected Setup to automatically
configure wireless security for your wireless

To use Wi-Fi Protected Setup, run the Setup
Wizard, or refer to the “Wireless > Basic Wireless
Settings” section of “Chapter 3: Advanced

Wi-Fi Protected Setup LED (Blue/Amber) It
lights up blue when wireless security is
enabled. The LED flashes blue for two
minutes during Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
The LED lights up amber if there is an error
during the Wi‑Fi Protected Setup process. Make
sure the client device supports Wi‑Fi Protected
Setup. Wait until the LED is off, and then try again.
The LED flashes amber when a Wi‑Fi Protected
Setup session is active, and a second session
begins. The Router supports one session at a
time. Wait until the LED is off before starting the
next Wi-Fi Protected Setup session.

I need to lock my wireless internet router

In your browser, type: or or (I cant remember which for this model)
It will ask for a password, the default is 'admin' with no username. Be sure to look for where to change this and do so! This option should be in the 'administration' section.
The wireless section will have the security options. you may have to click on a 'manual' radio button before something comes up to enter a password.

I have linskey wrt160 router the router work on my desktop not my laptop it will not connect

I have heard alot of people having this type of problem. The best would be to upgrade your firmware to another firmware such as

dd-wrt and tomato

I prefer you choose DD-WRT just go to and click on supported devices and just type in the last 3 digits of your router then download the firmware depending on the type of your specification. Then on the wireless make sure you put the Wireless Network Mode on Mixed.

If you need more setting please let me know i will be able to assist you much better on this..

Can not get full access to internet

with the websites that you are encountering errors on, try accessing them when your computer is directly wired to the modem. If they then work, call Linksys to have them troubleshoot your problem further.
