Convergence is almost impossible to adjust on this model--it is all manual. If you have a purity issue---bloches or screen not uniform color you may have a damaged shadow mask in the crt.

There is very limited convergence adjustment in this model.

Has set be moved or shipped recently?

yes you may need the maual unless the remote has an auto convergence, if you have no manual but can access the convergence menu your goal is to line all the colors up with the diagram

I have a Mitsubishi WS-55807 and the colors started to separate - you can reset it by turning if off and on again and it goes away but in time returns, starts getting blury then the colors split up - just...

In your On Screen Display menu (OSD), you should have a place that says "convergence". As a sub heading to this it will say "Auto-Convergence". This is where you want to be! Hit OK under AUTO, and watch the magic happen! If your set happens NOT to have AUTO, you'll have to do it manually. You're going to make the lines all match up doing one color at a time until all three colors are done! It's not hard at all. It may take a little patience at first, but just think of all the money your saving by not having a TV tech come out to your house and you'll be fine!

your convergence circuit has started giving trouble .... normal thing after a few years running for projection televisions ...... could be that the convergence IC's are getting too hot (two big IC's on a heast sink bearing an STK number on it) or that you have some loose soldering that needs to be resoldered on them.... worth the check

Hitachi43fdx01b had convergence issues, now screen is dead

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms
  • Screen Looks 3-D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted or warped
  • No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.
Problem #2

Another common problem is dull or washed out video.
Your TV2_bing.gif may have one or more of the following symptoms....
  • Dull looking picture
  • White looking picture
  • Halos around objects
  • Red/Orange looking picture

TV, RCA MOD # F19424, CTC 203U5, Picture blury

Focus and Screen. The focus control may help, just like focusing a set of binoculars or an old camera. Watch the picture on the TV, using a mirror can help and make an adjustment until the picture is as clear as you can get it. If it still is not clear it may mean that your picture tube is weak.
If you can avoid it, don't touch the Screen control. If you have, let me know and I can advise you on the proper way to adjust it.

Mitsubishi big screen blury

In all probability the picture is fuzzy too, its just harder to notice. This can be as simple as an adjustment in the back of the set. Carefully remove the back and look for the flyback transformer (part with large red wire coming out of the top). The should be 1 or 2 controls on it. One should be marked focus. Adjust that to get sharper focus.

Let me kow if that fails to resolve the problem.

Thanks,
Dan

Blur picture

First check the antenna! After that, look for colour changes/ shadows alongside text on screen, of some particular colour. Has the set been dropped? If so, static convergence can be knocked out, you need a professional.
If it is just generally blurred, obviously something has changed, but it might respond to adjustment of the focus control (inside set). This is still a job for a serviceman if you don't know anything about TV circuitry.
