Question about Whirlpool SF357 Gas Kitchen Range

Sf357pekb whirlpool range

Got the door open thanks to your help! Now what? Can I just disconnect and insulate the wires if I don't need the cleaning feature? Or should I buy the part? Of course, I want to clear the electronic display and the beeping. Thanks!!!

The problem would be clearing the displaying, as far as I see it. Will give it a shot. Thanks!

Umm, disconnecting might not be an option, the latch is sometimes used a monitor switch, aswell, but as long as its unlatched, it wont relatch until you self clean again, i would perhaps clip the "hook end" off teh latch rather then total disconnecting it

F5-E1 Door Latch Check Latch
F5-E1 or E1-F5 error is a door lock error. If these suggestions don't help, you will need a technician to diagnose and repair the problem.Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused. That sounds like you have problem with the door latch; you should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.

Also could try to check tips in THIS LINK.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

Error code E-1F5- came up on self cleaning oven before cycle was done what does this mean door wont open

F5 - E1 Self clean latch will not lock
1. If door latched:
  1. Disconnect power from unit.
  2. Check wires and connectors from control to door switch, then from door switch to control. If no damage to wires and all connectors okay, proceed to step C.
  3. Replace door switch.
  4. Re-apply power.
  5. Press and hold any key down for 1 minute to clear F5 failure code from memory. F2 will appear. Press CANCEL and observe for 1 minute to ensure operation is correct.
2. If door not latched:
  1. Disconnect power from unit.
  2. Check wires and connectors from control to latch switch, then from latch switch to control. If no damage to wires and all connectors okay, proceed to step C.
  3. Repeat steps A and B for door switch.
3. Measure door switch (door open = switch open small low voltage terminals). Replace switch if defective.
4. Measure latch switch (unlatch = switch open, CAUTION - oven light contacts are closed). Replace switch if defective.
5. If corrections are made in any step, reconnect power to control. Press and hold any key for 1 minute to clear R failure code from memory. F2 will appear. Press CANCEL and observe for 1 minute to ensure operation is correct.
6. If failure remains, disconnect power and replace control.

Note: Applies to all F5-E... codes.

Worried about coming in contact with the insulation inside door.

Unless you have an oven with a production date pre 1970 then the answer is no.

There are heat resistant materials available which do not contain asbestos fibres . (Nomex being one of them)

If you are really concerned go buy a simple 3m dust mask and wear gloves

I believe there is a mouse nest in the insulation of my whirlpool ceramic stove top, how do I remove the stove top to clean it out?

Open the oven door and locate the screws under the bottom of the front edge of the cook top. Remove the screws and the cook top should lift up. If the range is not equipped with any kind of hinge supports, the top will have to be propped up.

If there is evidence of any rodent infestation, make sure you do a thorough inspection of all internal wiring. Mice love to chew on wire insulation. Any bare wires can result in appliance failure, electric shock, or become a fire hazard. Make sure you do not use the range until repairs are made if there are signs of any wire damage.

NOTE: Ensure you also check the wiring inside the operator console. Remove the back panel to access.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Gas oven door locked after autocleaning-- will not open

set the selfclean and after you hear it lock down then cancel the operation and wait to give it time to unlock ,,, may take up to 10 minutes ,,, if it dont unlock you will need to get into the back of it and run the door latch back by hand
Take the back cover off the the stove. UNPLUG THE STOVE
On the left rear facing the back of the range youll see that the timer motor had stopped.may sure you unplug the input(230 volt power) leading to the stove, then unpluggand insulate the wiring to the timer motor and the microswitch on top of it ( 4 wires). Then take the long steel wire off of it and unlatch the oven door.
this probably had something to do with the timer motor on the self cleaning cycle and that it was stuck
Do NOT use the self cleaning function unless you fix the timer motor. Replace it or clean it.
Hope this helps

Door will not unlock after self clean.

It's probably the timer motor which is stuck. unplug the range!! I recently had the same problem with my whirlpool (hereinafter known as **** inc.) range. Self cleaned the oven and then the door wouldn't open. Googled up similar problems and generally found out that ****inc. had this problem on both gas and electric ranges and it costs an arm and a leg for a new board plus labor. Found out how to manually open door with coat hanger but of course still had problem with same error messages; also the oven, clock, etc wouldn't function. Took the cover off the back of the stove. UNPLUG THE STOVE On the left rear facing the back of the range he found the timer motor had stopped. He unplugged input(230 volt power) leading to the stove, then unplugged and insulated the wiring to the timer motor and the microswitch on top of it ( 4 wires). Then he took the long steel wire off of it and unlatched the oven door. Told me that this probably had something to do with the timer motor on the self cleaning cycle and that it was stuck Said this whole thing could probably be fixed with a bit of WD40. Said probably nothing wrong with board but it sure must be a moneymaker for **** inc. The service techs probably clean the timer motor, say they changed the $300 board, and go on their way. Plugged stove back up and voila! Everything worked except self cleaning function. Hope this helps someone. caution!!!! Do NOT use the self cleaning function unless you fix the timer motor. Replace it or clean it.

Whirlpool Electric Range - Setting Timer Stove says door

It may be that the door interlock is faulty.

It will not turn on if it thinks the door is open. It will probably work fine if in manual mode - as this is not used.

If out of warranty, check the door interlock for anything broken off, and with a meter to ensure correct operation.

If this is ok, check cabling back to controller. This board may need repair/ replacement if faulty.
