Question about Frigidaire 24 in. PLD2560LCC Energy Star® Built-in Dishwasher

2 Answers

Frigidaire dishwasher Rylee, the circuit breaker is fine. There is no fuse on the dishwasher according to the owners manual, the parts manual and the wiring diagram. There is no timer selector switch on this model. While I changed the control circuit board, the only other thing I can think it would be is the control panel with the buttons on it. What do you think

Hi Todd,

As a rule:

  • Black Smoke = Unburnt Fuel, incomplete combustion, bad mix
  • Blue Smoke = Burning Oil
  • White Smoke = Water Vapor, Water getting where it shouldn't be.
White smoke is common in cold weather when you first start your vehicle. It's from condensation. But it should stop as the engine warms up. If it doesn't, the moisture is from another source.

A blown head gasket fits the bill. Things to look for:
  • Coolant levels low. As the coolant is burned off, you'll notice the levels are lower
  • Oil in the coolant. If oil is present in the radiator, it's coming from the engine. Another indicator of a failed head gasket. Only a confirmation though, lack of oil does not rule out the possibility.
  • Water in the oil. You recently changed the oil. It should be clear and clean. Pull the oil dipstick. Is the oil still clear and clean? Or is it milky and frothy? If so coolant is getting into the oil. Again, an indicator, not a confirmation of a blown head gasket. Lack of blue smoke says that oil contamination is unlikely. On the other hand, the oil volume has to be coming from somewhere.
The quickest, easiest and (most importantly) cheapest confirmation of this is to run a compression test on each cylinder.

The test should show high and fairly close compression (100psi or more) on all cylinders. If any of them are significantly lower, something is allowing the gasses to escape. Since valve problems are usually accompanied by horrendous noises and piston ring failures would produce blue smoke, that leaves the head gasket.

If you feel comfortable doing it yourself, testers are available at any auto parts store for under $30.00. If you don't, any shop can do it in under half an hour.

All this is to pin point the problem. Then you know what you are dealing with.

Comment me back with your findings.
Mike

Hi!

The timer switch i was talking about was the selector switch/cycle selector switch. And in your case the timer is embedded in the control panel, so you need to get it replaced.

If you have found this information to be valid and useful, a "FixYa" ratings would be appreciated. That is the only reward I get for the help I offer here.

Thanks
Rylee

How do you reset the pump for this dishwasher

Hello friend, that's a great question!

To perform a manual reset on your Frigidaire dishwasher you would need to disconnect power to your appliance. The best way to do that is flip the household circuit breaker for roughly about ten minutes. Hope this is helpful. -Matt

Hi Lawrence, this is AP! Thank you for your post.

I understand you are having trouble with your Frigidaire electric dryer. Without knowing the specific model number there are still some troubleshooting tips I can recommend. Make sure the dryer is plugged into the outlet, and plugged in correctly. Check to see if the house fuse is blown or circuit breaker tripped. If so, replace fuse or re-set circuit breaker. If your house uses fuses, there are two house fuses that supply voltage to the dryer circuit in your fuse box. If one of the two fuses is blown, the dryer may turn but will not heat. Check and replace fuse in fuse box if necessary. If the house has circuit breakers, there may be two breakers with switches that supply voltage to the dryer. Circuit requirements are individual 30 amp. branch circuit fused with 30 amp. time delay fuses or circuit breakers. Your dryer requires a power supply of 240 volts to operate. Make sure that the electrical circuit is not overloaded and correct. The dryer must be on a circuit by itself. Overloaded circuits can damage the dryer and possibly cause damage to home. If needed have a Licensed Electrician check to make sure it is on a circuit by itself.

Lastly, the thermal limiter could have tripped or there is an internal problem with the dryer. A thermal limiter automatically turns off the motor (electric dryers only) in the unlikely event of an overheated situation. If this is the case I would recommend contacting an authorized service for repair as this is not a typical DIY project. Contacting an authorized technician can ensure no troubleshooting step has been missed. Parts are often costly and if the problem is precisely diagnosed, it can save you a lot of time and funds.

You can use the link below if you need assistance in locating an authorized technician in your area. I hope this information proves helpful for you.

Dish washer does not drain after final cycle

1 Check the basics. Make sure that the dishwasher has actually finish the cycle. Your dishwasher will not drain until the end of the cycle. Many things may have interrupted the cycle. Check circuit breaker and reset it if appropriate. Also check the fuse. It is possible that you could have tripped a circuit have way through the cycle. Make sure the door is properly closed. Ensure you have chosen a cycle on the dishwasher. It is amazing the problems children could accidentally cause, that are easy fixes. 2 Remove any excess food at the bottom of the dishwasher. The best way to do this is with your hands. Large food particles can block from going into the drain. This is also another extremely easy fix to make your dishwasher to drain. 3 Check to ensure that the hoses are still attached. Use your manual to find where the hoses are. If they are not attached the owner's manual will give you instructions on how the attach the hoses to your specific dishwasher. 4 Attempt to declog the line. Disconnect the hose from under your sink and check to see if there are any clogs. Use a hanger or towels, remove the clog from the hose. 5 Remove the dishwasher basket. Again refer to your owner's manual for specific instructions.Normally you will remove it with a screwdriver. Make sure to work slowly. As you take the basket apart, you will be able to see if it needs to be cleaned. If there is dirt or debris, you can clean the parts with a rag or paper towel. After cleaning these parts, you can replace the basket. 6 Call a plumber. If the dishwasher is still not draining, the problems are a little more complex to fix. It is advisable to call plumber to make your dishwasher drain.

Hi

The issue is with the heating element of your dishwasher, it is withdrawing very large amount of power and thus, the circuit gets overloaded and circuit breaker trips. You'll need to check for any short circuits around the heater element. And, also the resistance of the heater element, it should be around 1.4K ohms to 1.8K ohms.

Have a whirlpool dishwasher and water standing in bottom

Hi!

Please check and make sure handle link is properly seated in door latch assembly and then check that the door switch is opening and closing properly.

Check the child lock, if it is “ON” then turn it "OFF"

Review setting of wash cycles as per the instructions given in the User/Owner manual.

Now check the circuit breaker or fuse.
