1) Unit is Defective,
2) Hold Button is on.
3) Power Button is not On. (or Batteries are not in proper position or weak. Or Corrosion on Battery Contacts)
4) Dirty Lens (Clean the laser lens with swobbies gently)

-These are the only things that User can do. If this does not help, then Replacing would be better.-

I just bought the RCA CD/DVD home theater system RTD206. I cant figure out how to change the radio channels. Also cant figure out how to change the cd disk tracks. Does this system have a remote. Or do...

The system does have a remote (at least it should come with one if purchased new), and you need it to control pretty much everything. Here's what the manual says about the radio tuner (you can find the whole manual here) :

Manual Tuning
1. Connect the FM aerial and the AM loop antenna at the back of the unit. Rotate the AM loop for
better reception.
2. Press TUNER to enter TUNER mode and toggle between FM and AM.
3. When the FM station broadcasts Stereo sound, ST is displayed.
4. Tune a station by pressing repeatedly the TUNER+/- buttons until the desired station is found.
Alternatively, you can press and hold the same buttons down for about one second to activate
the automatic search function. In this mode the player will automatically tune frequencies until
it finds a station.
5. Repeat step 4 to tune to another radio station.

Storing radio stations
The player can store up to 30 radio stations in its memory. You can enter every single radio station
yourself or the player can store all available radio stations automatically in ascending order.
Automatic preset programming
1. Press TUNER to enter the Tuner mode.
2. Press and hold TUNER down for 3 seconds to start automatic preset programming.
Note: A weak signal can affect the "Automatic preset programming" function's efficiency. Adjust the aerial for better
reception and a more efficient search.
3. Radio frequencies will be browsed and radio stations stored automaitcally. When all the available
radio stations are stored or all 30 memory locations are full, the auto preset programming
function will stop.

Manual preset
1. Tune to a radio station (see "Manual tuning" for details).
2. Press MEMORY once to enter flashing Preset Loaction number.
3. While the Preset Location number is still flashing, input your desired preset number (1-30) using
the numeric buttons or press the CH+/- buttons, then press MEMORY to store it.

Retrieving preset stations
1. Press TUNER to enter the Tuner mode.
2. Press CH+/- to search up or down for the preset stations or directly press the numeric buttons.

As you see, you really need that remote. The same is true for disc play. While there are front panel buttons for play/stop, disc skip, and drawer open/close, you don't have any other control without the remote. Without the remote control you'll find this system won't do too much, unfortunately. If you bought this new, check the packing material before you throw it away to make sure the remote's not still somewhere in the box. They often come tucked into slots on the foam inserts.

Also, when you hook the unit to a TV, it's just using the TV as a video display device. The TV has nothing to do with any of the system's other functions.

I hope you have luck locating the remote! Thanks for using Fixya.

When I try to play a CD I get an "err" message. Using store-bought CD's, not ones that have been copied. I have the Emerson PD6559BL portable CD player Love this CD player so I hope you...

Extract from your cd player manual:

"This CD player can play normal CDs p/us CD Recordable (CD-R)
and CD Rewriteable (CD-RW) discs. However the playability of CD-RIRW discs
may be affected by the type of software that was used in 'ripping' the tracks from
the original discs and 'burning' the tracks onto the blank media. Playability may
a/so be affected by the quality and condition of the blank media you use for
recording. 100% compatibility cannot be guaranteed, this is nof an indication of
any problems with your player."

So try to burn the disc with another software or buy different CD-r.
You also want to make sure that you Burned the tracks as audio files and not MP3 file, because your player can not read MP3s.

Hope this helps.

Stops and starts at random. don't have manual. craig model #cdm2891 so don't know whay all the buttons are for

Hi there.
I'm assuming this is the CD Player you own :

http://www.craigelectronics.com/product_detail/personalCDPlayer/CDM2891.html

I only ask as this brand does not exist in England. However I know that if your portable CD Player is cutting out sound, this is due to excessive movement fron being in a pocket or from being in a bumpy car. The cutting out is because the "Antishock" has not had a chance to store the music information, so instead the unit just pauses or cuts out sound.

-> Once = Skip track forward
<- Once = Play from start of track or skip backwards
Hold down either of these to fasst forward or rewind
The square means stop
II = Pause (press again to resume....sometimes pressing play will resume too)

These are universal key functions. Having not seen the item before, I am unable to guide furthur unless you can direct me to some pictures that I can see the function buttons larger and can explain what they do

All the best

Speaker cuts out when ipod is hooked up to audio in port

try isolating the problem by inserting other sources such as tape deck, portable cd players, game consoles, if they work fine, test you ipod cable. next test you ipod on other audio in ports such as karaoke or other component stereos, ask a friend if he or she has one. test both, you may now have the idea where the trouble is.

I have a stanton-vestax cd-11 dual cd player, and was wondering how to get a cd to play on it. I put one in, turned the player on, pushed all the buttons and nothing happened. how does it work?

I have had one of these for many years: Switch it on, you must make sure the two transit screws at the back of each deck are fully unscrewed and loose, let the machine displays settle down, then insert a CD, then press the 'reset' button. There is a built-in delay of about 11 seconds before the deck begins to read. After this the machine should then display the first track number, and pressing the big red button will start play.

Pressing the 'reset' button again stops playback and the CD spins down, but if you leave the CD in there it will eventually re-index and cue up again. This feature is to enable fast, one-button CD changing and it works very well in practice, as the 11 second delay is enough time to take one CD out and get another in there before it tries to read it again.

To stop playback just press the 'reset' button (this is the most used button!) and take out the CD. After the delay, the machine will try to read a CD as normal, but display 'no CD' on the display. There is no stop button, as this unit was designed for continuous use in a club or disco.

Hope this helps. :)

KDC-519 HAS CD STUCK IN IT. RADIO PLAYS, BUT CD WILL NOT EJECT!-NHORSEPOWER1@AOL.COM

can you try to see the front panel of your CD player and find a very tiny hole there. you insert a small pin there about 2inches lengght at least and push it inside. if the tray is in the home position then you must be able to eject the tray manually but if it is stuck in the play position then the cd mechanism has to be dismantled
