Question about Whirlpool GSC9455 Top Load Washer
Our washing machine seems to run normally however when the agitator is moving, it emits a loud rickety sound; kind of like creaking or something. It drains fine, etc and I haven't noticed anything else wrong with the washer. Are there some troubleshooting tips or any specific parts that I can check. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks! Julia
It souds to me that you might have some bad agitator dogs. To test this problem, grab the agitator and replicate its motion during operation. If it moves easily in both directions, or makes the sounds you're describing move ahead. If that test passes, unfotunatley, you might have a transmission or tub bumper problem. not too bad, but more involved.
Begin by taking the very tipy top of the agitator off. You'll see inside a plastic piece you can pull right out. Next you will need a 9/16 or 11mm socket with extention. Remove the bolt and pull the top half of the agitator out, tip it upside down to remove the dog carriage. See those four small plastic things? Those are them. They're very cheap and redily availible. Reassemble, and enjoy your laundry! Let me know how things go.
