Most versions are obvious, but the newer version where there are no screws on the grill edge require you to remove the bottom plate on the cabinet by taking off the feet and stand adaptor. Once the bottom is off, you'll see the grill is mounted in a slot. With the cabinet on it's back lift and pull the grill and it will slide up and out of the slot.

# 1991 peavey classic chours 2x12 scorpion speakers one speaker makes a buzz noise only on a high e note only sometimes -if i want to replace the speaker do the front grill come off to remove spekaer

Normally on older Peavey amps the grill is on a frame attached to the face held on with velcro. I suspect you have something vibrating against the speaker if it's only one frequency. Once the grill is off it may be apparent.
Also on old Scorpions and Black Widows Peavy has a piece of foam in the hole in the magnet to keep junk from getting in the speaker. Over time it crumbles and opens that hole, but even worse can get it the gap and freeze the voice coil. I always suggest cleaning it out while the speaker is out of the cab.

I have a SP-2 peavey cabinet and the driver is blown. How does the front cover come off to access the screws to remove the driver?

There have been a number of different versions of the SP-2, but as on all but the last couple of versions it would be obvious, I assume you have the newer version with the full metal grill covering the face of the cabinet. In order to remove the grill you have to take the entire bottom plate off the cabinet by removing the feet and stand mount. You will then be able to remove the grill from the tracks down both sides of the front that it fits in. You can then unscrew the horn to get to the driver. Or you can remove the 15" and reach up and unscrew the driver from the horn. You may find it easier to remove one of the handles and go in that way, cuting a slit in the inner insulation to reach through. Another possiblity is to remove the crossover and go in that way. Any way you do it, it's not fun to work on that series of Peavey cabinets! I see on the current BX series of cabs they've made it a lot simpler again by eliminating the extra top and bottom plates from the cabinets.

Sp 3g crossover wiring

In Peavey cabinets, the woofer is always Yellow + and Blue - and the horn is always Red + and Black -. On the mid the remaining two wires would be the lighter color + and the darker color -

Peavey SP 5 speaker has stopped working

Check the crossover network for cracked solder joints, specially pay attention to the female1/4 jacks as they are very tricky since they are switches also, you might be surprised...

How do I go about disassembling my peavey 6150+112 combo guitar amp to the point where I can replace the 12" driiver for a better one.

Most Peavey speakers you will have to just remove the grille in front of the speaker. These usually are held by Velcro like fasteners that you must carefully pry the grille out. That will give you access too the screws holding the speaker rim. Be aware that there are different sizes of speaker rims and mountings for the "same" listed size speaker. Also use the same impedance speaker as the original one or you MAY find you have less power OR blow your amp out.

I have a blown Diaphram, and want to replace with new one. How do i gain access/open the enclosure. Its the cabinet with that hammertex material.

Almost all of these speakers now are accessed the same way... through the front.

You will USUALLY find a few small screws through the metal grille work. There MAY be some at the midway point of top to bottom as well. The grilles OFTEN "tuck" into grooves at the sides. With the screws out you usually have to pry out the grilles. Often there are rubber channels over the edges... note how they go on for reassembly. Pry out the grille at the center of the top OR use a hook with a handle to distort the grille outward so the edges come out of the grooves.

You will have some frustration getting the grille in and out... I do on mine...
