Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The blinking LED light indicates that the auto protect mode has kicked in. This signifies that the TV's built-in diagnostics sensed an internal fault. Often this would be a hardware failure and depending on the number/sequence of blinks could be from power supply, vertical or HV (horizontal). Pls post back the sequence/number of blinks.

Additionally, this of course would require opening the unit, perform voltage measurements, determine faulty component and subsequent part(s) replacement. Further, a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron would be required. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings.Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

This model is known for having power supply issues. I suspect from the information you have provided the power supply is causing the problem. I never reccomend replacing any part unless it is tested and proved to be defective and that the other circuits in the TV are verified not to have caused the original part to fail.

Hello,

The problem is most likely a shorted horizontal output transistor. Another thing this could be is a bad CRT.

I suggest you take it to your local TV repair shop and see if they can repair it.

If you still have waranty on it try calling sony to see if they will fix or replace it for free.

goto www.sony.com to get contact info for sony (I cant give you the info because I dont know what country you are in)

I hope this helps

Have a great day

Looks like the lamp needs to be replaced. Has the lamp been replaced or would this be the first time. Usually what occurs for lamp replacement is the TV dies no video or sound after being turned on for 10 seconds to 2 minutes. But yours turns right back on after being turned off automatically which is odd. Normally after it dies, it starts a red blinking action. I think replacing the lamp will fix this issue. Also, replacing the lamp is very easy to do.

many questions like this and only answer is to dump it and buy a new one as these modern LCD TVs are repairable as such and you can only change a board and the wait to get one and the cost ? you may as well buy a new TV

The On/off button of my LG LCD does not turn on the tv and the red/green light of the power indicator doesn't light up, but when plugging in the power cable to the outlet the on/off button light is...

your TV has a power supply issue or a logic fault.
Don't try and fix this yourself as the power supplies in these TV sets are extremely dangerous !!
These TV's can only be fixed to board level which means this repair may get expensive.
My advice would be to take the TV to a professional or have them call to your home to check it out..

Have an old sony HDTV proj tv, and the picture went out last night. I heard sort of a "pop" then no picture

Pop sound shows that some thing went wrong inside TV and most probably any part got busted.
Let me know model number of your Sony TV and does its standby red light blinking? if yes, how many times it blinks between 3 seconds interval.

No picture, no sound

we need a request on what the blinking red light means on your model number and manufacturer of TV, we can then try to see what the blinking light means,(although it doesn't sound good) You ca always unplug the DVR and see if there is a change, then you would know it was the DVR
Thanks for the rating

LOOKING FOR SERVICE MANUALS AND SCHEMATIC SHEETS FOR SONNY TRINITRON TV KV-G21M1

Hi there!

Unfortunately I will not be able to help you there, but you can try search the web for info on your particular model. Try Google.com. That will be a good start. Some sites offer free and others will supply you at minimal cost. Depends what your set is worth to you, otherwise a repair from a local repairer could save some money and effort. Good Luck to You, Regards, Jus004
