Question about Philips Magnavox 42MF521D/37 Television
My screen went black during viewing and the blue "on" light won't turn off by remote or manually
ONE: First thing to do is a hard reset. Merely unplug the power cord for 4 hours, then power up again.
TWO: If the reset does not help, try disconnecting anything on input 2. For example, if you have a dvd player connected to that input, the tv may be sensing its presence and switch over to it. (Especially, if the device is left ON.)
THREE: It is possible the controller IC is defective and is wandering around (electronically speaking). In this case, the set would need to be seen by a tech who can get inside and test the circuitry that controls the function switching. Lugging a big set like this into a shop is not easy, but is will save you lots of money compared to having them come to your home.
Let me know if you need more....
Hope this may help;
