Question about HP Photosmart 2410 All-In-One InkJet Printer

2 Answers

HP 2410 printer won't boot up, just makes a clunking sound.

I have an HP 2410 all-in-one printer that starts to boot up and then I hear something moving inside the printer and it starts going clunk clunk clunk clund etc. After ten or so clunks, it shuts down. It makes no difference whether it is connected to the computer or is not connected. It does the same thing every time I try to start it. It is operating with a computer running XP and I have used it for a long time without any problems. Recently I have had to turn it off and on several times and it will stop the clunking sound and print but now it just goes into the clunking sound no matter what it do to it. Is there anything I can do to fix it???

Someone just had a similar problem.
Unplug your printer for a few hours.
Plug it back in and the problem clear.

I have a HP LaserJet 3053 printer that has been making a clunking sound everytime I print something out. Recently the toner has been smearing on some of the copies, also. Any advice will be helpful.

sounds like your toner cartridge is faulty. Has it been clunking since you replaced it - if so have you bought a 3rd party toner - some can be really poor quality. id reccomend getting a hp cartridge or a decent 3rd party

Whilst just starting ti print there was an unexpected noise form the printer, like loud clunk. Now it won't print - it says there is paper jam but there isn't. Press OK to clear jam, then it does...

Sounds like one of the gears has probably broken

check out the HP website for suitable alternatives .if your in the uk try http://h40059.www4.hp.com/uk/printers/ otherwise start at http://www.hp.com/

Hp 2410 just clicking

When you power on the printer.
See if the scanner light move to the right and then keep on clicking.
If this happen, the scanner head is unable to find home position.
You will have to clean the strip under the glass.
If this only start to happen recently, you could unplug the printer and wait 1 hour.
Replug in the printer will at times stop the clicking.
You can go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com
Enter c00553775 into the search block.
Click on Hp All in one how to clean scanner glass.
This will bring you to the HP document.

This is a common problem. You did the correct procedure. Lubricating the rail is what I would do. What you need to do is find the best type of oil to use. Some may actually make it worse. Start by cleaning the rail with alcohol. Saturate your rag and move the rail back and forth to make sure you get all of the old lubrication out of the rail bushings. Really do a good job at this because the old stuff is actually creating the problem. Next is lubricating the rail. I use 3 in 1 sewing machine oil. It is a very thin oil that will last longer for you. Never use teflon or wd-40 this will build up and make it worse. Give it a try. I also have seen the rail where it is worn because of lack of lubrication and it was not worth fixing but that is the extreme case. Thank you for your question, Bill

Machine won't boot up

I found this suggestion on line and it worked. After turning on my hp psc 2410 photosmart all in one, it just started making a peculiar sound and wouldn't boot up. It was useless. What I did to correct the problem (as per suggestion from cdpena@sbcglobal.net) was to hold the cancel button down before I turned the printer on and hold it down through the start up process. The thing works now. The problem may have been caused by a power outage. Thanks cdpena@sbcglobal.net. I almost bought another printer.
