Getting fumes in home while heater is running

Model HL 400TYLA-0
Model is 3 years old, this problem just happened lately. I cleaned the burners, the logs, checked and cleaned the injectors, the flame is as it is supposed to be, but there are fumes filling the home. I am wondering if the problem is the pressure regulator.
Thanks for your assistance in this matter.

The pressure regulator can very well be the problem if you had the device three years with out a problem.
Is the devise vented? if so then maybe there is not enought draft to completely combust the fuel, if it is NOT vented then it very well could be the regulator sending more fuel to the devise that it is able to combust properly.

Since it hasn't been used in at least 15 years, what you're seeing is the dust, dirt and spider webs that are being burned up by the heater. The strong smell is because of the clogged burners. Best suggestion is turn it OFF let it cool completely and thoroughly clean the unit. It may need to be dismantled some so that you can reach and clean everything. A shop vac with a house and brush attachment works well to accomplish this. Pay particular attention to the burner(s) and vacuum them several times. Dry clean everything you possibly can. Then reassemble the heater and relight the pilot and give it a try.

In closing, I must say, having been in the hearth business for 15 years, I' am totally shocked, that after 2 years of neglect, that a 15 year old gas heater would even light.

You could try cleaning up the thermocouple with steel wool. Some manufacturers call this a flame generator as well. Any how make sure it is clean and positioned in the top center of the pilot light for best signal. This is only speculation as these are common problems that will arise on heaters in general. This also turns the gas to the burners and pilot light so thats why to start here first. Hope this helps you out.

It sounds like you are not getting complete combustion and need to adjust the air flow to the burner so it will have more air/oxygen to burn. You may try cleaning the fan and burner also.

Laser 56 EE6

EE 6 happens for several reasons. Most likely in your case when the stove runs for a while after you turn it back on, the code is due to and over heat. The circulating fan and cover need to be spotless. If they are then the code is due to low fuel, no fuel or dirty filte on tankor stove.

You might have a slight odor of gas when the burner first ignites. Some gas does escape before it completely ignites. It shouldn't smell after 2 years of use. If you can see the pilot flame burning from the top of the heater, the heater pilot assembly is pushed over too far. The pilot fumes could be escaping in the room and cause a smell.

Delonghi "the incredible heat machine" started smoking

Hi Coyote,

I don't know about your specific heater, but, as someone who has a vast electronics background, things that heat tend to give off some fumes. Many electronic componets are LIGHTLY coated with an oil product to provide humidity protection, while the product may sit in a warehouse for years. Typically, such protection, upon being heated, will disperse in the first (maybe) hour of use. but, it could be more, I guess.
BUT, fumes should never be taken lightly. FUMES SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN LIGHTLY!!!. FUMES MAY KILL YOU!!
How I handle it is...if the fume is noxious, so as to irritate your nose, or eyes, etc. IT IS BAD!!!

Nevertheless, if I were in your boots, I would take the unit outdoors, and let it run on 'HIGH' for about a 1/2 hour, or so. After it cools down, take it indoors and try it again. If it is still fuming, write the manufacturer a "fuming" letter.

Good Luck,
Papou1
