Question about KitchenAid KSRA25CNSS Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Water dispenser is just a trickle

This has been getting slowly worse over time. I just changed the filter and stream starts out ok, but dwindles to a trickle quickly. I've quit using it (AND the ice dispenser since it always jams). This thing has really been a disappointment.

The biggest culprit for slow water dispensing aside from the filter is the water supply its self. check to make sure the water line isnt kinked behind the refrig, if thats ok then disconnect the water line from the refrig and run water into a bucket and observe your water flow. good water pressure would basicly fill a 2 gallon bucket in less than a minute. much less than that can cause problems. hope that helps peyton

Water does not flow

Sounds like air in the line.....the filter may be cracked/damaged, or not quite seated...?

since you've tried 2 new ones....I'm gonna bet they are not quite the correct ones for your fridge.

GE Refrigerator Water dispenser trickles

Side like a water supply issue or a kinked line. Good pressure at first then weak pressure after a short time is a restriction in the water flow.

Water dispenser isnt working. Water is slowed to a trickle and ice maker isn't getting enough water to make cubes. We have checked the line from the wall for clogs and it is clear.

Is there a water filter in the unit and if so, when was the last time you changed it? If there is a water filter and the flow of water to the dispenser and icemaker could be impeded by a filter full of "stuff".

The cold water dispenser and ice maker do not work, failing simultaneously and rather suddenly. model number JFC2089HPY. small stream of water exits cold water dispenser

I am hoping you installed a filter, if so, your filter is clogged. You need to pull the refrigerator out and find the filter in the rear of your unit. It should be in the copper lines installed from your water source to your unit. If you do not have a filter than you problem is a lottle more serious. In the back of your fridge you have a dual water inlet valve. This has clogged, more than likely with dirt. calcification or worse yet, it is iced up and water is not able to flow through it. If you are getting freezing cold water as your trickle, then it is an icing problem. Check the filter first. I am sure you have one installed and it is in need or replacing.

In case of a problem or clarification or my solution was insufficient, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Purchased a GE Profile bottom freezer April 08. Has indoor water dispenser. Changed the water filter 60 days ago. Since then the amount of cold water dispensed has slowly decreased to a trickle. There...

Disconnect the water line where it comes out of the water inlet valve and see how the flow is when you try the dispenser. Disconntct the water line at the bottom of the freezer door where it goes into the door. If it flows good here it may be freezing in the door. Open the door till it thaws.
If it's good at the inlet valve and slow at the door, some models have a way to put a plug in and bypass the filter.

Water is slowly trickling out of water dispenser

This is usually because the water filter on the supply line needs replacing.
If it has not been replaced within 6 months, then this will probably cure it.

Water/ice dispenser not working

Depending on the age of your house, large chunks of minerals may have dislodged in the water piping system, and is flooding the filter cartridge with trash. I had this happen recently on a 15 year old house that water stopped flowing in 4 cold water faucets of the bathroom.

Try this -

1) Roll the fridge out from the wall
2) Turn the water off at the wall.
3) Disconnect the water line from the back of the fridge
4) Get a bucket and stick the line into the bucket.
5) Slowly open the valve and see if water comes out. If it does, let it run for 20-30 secs at a decent flow, then turn off. If not water comes out, then you have a different problem. The cause may be the same, but it's not the refrigerator.

If water does come out, check the bucket to see if there are chunks of mineral buildup in the bottom, or floating in the water.

If there are minerals, then again, let the line run until the water runs clear. Open the valve as full open as you can to increase the water velocities and flush the chunks. Also, if no water comes through the tube, there may be trash in the valve itself, and you will likely need to call a plumber to repair unless your handy. I can describe how to repair, but that is another subject.

If everything flushes clear and you have flow, then get yourself a new filter, and try again. If there was mineral buildup, it is possible that some got through the filter and has built up inside the refrigerator water tubing. That again is another issue that I can help you with.

Kitchenaid fridge (ksrw25crss02)icemaker slowly stopped working, decreasing in the amount of ice it made until finally no ice at all. also, water trickles from water dispencer.

hi kev215,
welcome to fixya.com.

Huuum at your service.

You said, the ice maker slowly stopped working, decreasing in the amount of ice it made until finally no ice at all. also, water trickles from water dispenser.

The first thing I would ask is when did you last change your water filter in the fridge?
Or if it's an older fridge with an inline filter behind the fridge!
check the shut off valve for the water line that leads to you ice maker. under the sink or in the basement or where ever the line comes from. I've seen where someone turned the valve a little clockwise unbeknown to the home owner and stopped or slowed the water flow.

The water line should be checked too, for any kinking that may be running behind the fridge or some unseen place!

How old is the fridge??

Let me know,
Thank you Huuum

Ice and water stopped working

Check the water valve on the back of the unit. Remove the hoses from the refrigerator side of the valve and see if water is coming from the wall through the valve itself. If it doesn't come through the valve, you'll know it's bad.
