Question about Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera

1 Answer

Recording images takes a very long time after turning camera on

When I take photos right after I turn on my Rebel XTi, it takes several minutes (sometimes as long as 20 minutes) for the camera to record them. I can usually take about 25 photos on large, fine quality before it won't let me take anymore. After a very long time, it records the all the images at once. Then everything works fine for a while, but the same problem can come up randomly during normal opperation. When it's trying to record, the CF light stays on, the remaining number of photos blinks, the screen reads "Busy" when I try to review photos, and I cannot hook my camera up to my computer. I have the latest firmware, the battery is fully charged, and none of the pins in my CF card slot are broken or bent.

Are you using a typeII Cf card. You might try reformatting the card. Or go pick up a type II or III card, the type IV's seem to not do as good in the Canon..

Hiyou might have a problem of either main pcb or power control pcd (dc/dc convertor). it is common but it cost. It cause usually come from loosen screw going around inside and short. If it is lucky, then your unit would just a fuse brown. If not, it has to change main pcb and all of computer adjustment is involved. Your local repair shop would charge you around $65 to 235.

Canon EOS rebel XTi won't turn on. Changed batteries several times still nothing

Mcm,
Trying taking a Q-tip with some alcohol and cleaning the contacts inside the battery chamber. Also, you can take it to your local camera store and ask them to try it with one of their batteries to rule out if yours is dead.

Thank you.

Very blurry pictures on a Cannon Xti 400D

If u had took photo in very low light, pictures will appear blur. Or if you use tele zoom, u need to use tripod to stablize. In normal conditions, you can turn on image stablizer.

Rebel XTi, "Busy" when I am trying to take several pictures in a row

I think you use a cheep card which has low speed, so can't save photos as fast as needed. test a fast one. I hope this helps

Canon rebel xti focus issues

I think it might be a lens issue.
make sure you change the macro option. the macro must be activated if you are taking a picture of something which is close to the camera. if it's not activated, the picture will not be focused.
The same will happen if the item is far and the macro is ON.

Missing Photos Canon Rebel XTi

You can actually still keep taking photos with your camera without loosing the images. The XTi will never delete the images off a card unless you press the trashcan key and tell it to "delete all".

It's always good practice in these situations to have a memory card reader handy. You can pick up a compact flash reader for your XTi for about $14 at BestBuy or many other retaillers.

But to answer your question: Use the ZoomBrowser EX software that came with the camera. If your Picasa is set to automatically connect and download every time the camera is connected - temporarily disable it. That way it wont inturrupt Canon's software (which I prefer).

Dark shadow on right side of picture

sounds like a shutter leaf dropping into the image. however, they are usually horizontal and more likely to manifest when in landscape mode. (horizontal, normal)
try using flash pointed up to ceiling.
also, could need to check for auto sync speed setting. usually 1/125 to 1/60. if its off, it could be catching the shutter in the wrong place.
check manual for settings for using flash.
