Lexmark 4270 Need status report after each sent fax
I am trying to set my 4270 to give me a status report after each fax sent. I do not have my set up manual and have not been able to figure out how to do this task. At one time, it was set up to do so but has lost that setting.

dear the sent report can be disabled at FAX SETUP.press menu and scroll to enter fax setup scroll to display report enter here to enable or disable the report. the sent report only display for short time after sending the fax. also you can take a print of journalreport. Thanks.
most printer in the market has the same standard setting for the fax.
u can set the report many types for many user's purposes, some people want to save paper, save ink/toner, so they dont need report if the fax is sent but only print report if the fax is not good(NG or not sent)
it can be set to:
report off--means report will be print out only if the fax is NG
report off+image--means report will be print out if the fax is NG + the image of the page that is not sent(so we know which page is not sent through the image)
report on+image-- every fax activities( sent or not sent) will be reported, which is not recommended
how to set is depends on your printer, just go to the menu "FAX" and look inside the menu.
You cannot print out a sent fax, but you can print a report that give you a status of all faxes sent and received.
Press Setup, press 1
Press > (the right arrow) until you get to "Fax Log"
Press OK to select the report.
Press the [Menu] button on the Control Panel, until Reports is displayed on the top line of the Display Screen. The Phone Book menu item will be displayed on the bottom line.
Press the right or left arrow button to scroll until the report or list you want to print is displayed on the bottom line.
Phone Book: Phonebook list
Sent Report: Sent fax report
RCV Report: Received fax report
System Data: System data list
Scheduled Jobs: Scheduled job information

Junk Fax List: Junk fax number list
Press [Enter] to print the selected information.
Your machine can print reports containing useful information. The following reports are available:
Phonebook List: This list shows all of the numbers currently stored in the machine's memory as Speed Dial and Group Dial numbers. You can print this phonebook list using the [Phonebook] button.
Sent Fax Repor: This report shows information of the faxes you recently sent.
Received Fax Report: This report shows information of the faxes you recently received.
System Data List: This list shows the status of the user-selectable options. You may print this list to confirm your changes after changing any settings.
Scheduled Job Information: This list shows the document currently stored for Delayed faxes or Toll Save faxes. The list shows the starting time and type of operation.
Message Confirmation: This report shows the fax number, the number of pages, the elapsed time of the job, the communication mode, and the communication results. You can set up your machine to automatically print the message confirmation report after each fax job.
Junk Fax Number List: This list shows up to 10 fax numbers specified as the junk fax numbers by using the Junk Fax Setup menu. When the Junk Fax Barrier feature is turned on, incoming faxes from those numbers will be blocked. This feature recognizes the last 6 digits of the fax number set as a remote fax machine’s ID.
Multi-Communication Report: This report is printed automatically after sending documents from more than one location.
Power Failure Report: This report is printed out automatically when power is restored after a power failure, if any data loss occurs due to the power failure.
NOTE: The lists you have set to automatically print out will not print out when there is no paper loaded or a paper jam has occurred.
can you clarify? This is a fairly straightforward replacement.....Lift up the face of the machine, wait for the carriage to come over and fully stop moving, remove old cartridge and replace with new.....maybe more info on what is actually happening or not.....
Does it only happen going to one certain fax destination or every destination? There are some things to try on the Lexmark web site.
Go to www.lexmark.com and click Support->Technical Support. Type in 4270 in the 'Search by Model' box. Type in 'Remote fax error' in the 'Search the Knowledgebase' box. There is a topic called 'Problems Sending a Fax to Specific Fax Machines' that has some good general tips.
there are fax/phone switch that you can use to connect the phone and fax machine to use a single line. price range from $46 and up.
that is probably the best solution, other than switch the line manually.
