Reprogramming mitel phones for a different astreixs network

We had a network of IP phones that we purchased with Shift, they went belly up and I have no way to reprogramm these phones to work on our network Help!!

Do they have a we interface
How do I set them to factory default?

Interesting, problem.

First off, you are not going to be able to reprogram the ip phones yourself. I just completed training on a similar network. This is way too much information that you need to have access to in order to program them (ip addresses, mac addresses and so on). Don't think because you know how to set the IP addresses on a computer you can do the phones. It is a totally different process.

You will need to telnet into the phone server, etc.etc. You will need to know factory codes for programming and access menus. etc.etc.

But, it doesn't sound like your telephones are the fault here. It would be really strange for all of them to go out at one time. It sounds more like a network problem or server issue.

Try rebooting the phone unit (server) and then rebooting a few phones and see if the system comes back up. Also check the network connections from your server to network switch. Also try some different ports incase you have a switch port failure.

I can assure you that this is not something you want to approach by yourself. I have been doing moderate IT work for years and the IP phones are still a little confusing to me.

What model of Mitel controller do you have? The 5312 works on several different controllers. Sounds like you have UDP ports blocked on you IP network. Please list your controller type and if you have a firewall/router/or layer 3 switching on your data switch.

How do you reprogram mitel


You need a program called mitel db programming.

You will need to know the system IP address and the usernam and password.

Once on you can reprogramme any extension, as well as many other things.

No dial tone on Mitel 5340 IP Phone. The message on the phone is DHCP: Discovery.


The network isn't configured properly for your phone to boot up. You should contact your phone vendor or system administrator for support.

I've powered my 9620 off/on, moved the phone to a different desk. I keep getting DHCP Conflict and the phone keeps rebooting. I am not able to CRAFT... does not work on this phone at this point.


Someone configured a static IP on your network. The DHCP server thinks that IP is free and keeps handing it out to you. You can either trace the equipment (workstation or phone) that has that IP or you can go into the CRAFT menu and assign a static to the equipment (please check with your network or system administrator to see what IP you can assign to your phone. Also talk to your network admin if you are using VLANs)

To get into the craft menu and change the ip address settings

1. during the startup of the phone press the * key when you see "* to Program" during initialization
2. enter 27238#
3. navigate to the ADDR menu
4. change the ip address, call server ip, subnet, router to the correct ip addresses
5. if needed change the http, https, or file server address
6. restart phone

My IP mitel phone 5324 phone gives an error message option 128 missing


the DHCP server or your network switch isn't configured properly. I hope by now your network admin or vendor has gotten this problem resolved.

Plycom ip330 phone - works fine when connected directly to Brighthouse modem, however when brighthouse modem connected to belkin router then to phone says - waiting for network to initialize, please help


sounds like your belkin router is not setup as a DHCP server or the DHCP is disabled. The DHCP in the belkin assigns addresses to the internal network, the error "waiting for network to initialize" means that the phone is waiting for an IP address, to which its not getting. When you connect directly to your modem you get an IP from your Internet service provider. I'll bet your internal network is setup using "static" ip addresses, if thats the case you will need to surf into the phones web console and set a static IP address. Or the opposite, enable DHCP in the belkin. hope that clarifies things a little.

No network problems 3com phones can't get connected to dhcp


Assuming you are talking about remote phones, you need to program the NCP (call processor) IP into the phones manually or add option 187 to your DHCP scope. The phones are able to DHCP the just also need to know what the IP address of the phone system to connect to is. If the phones are on your local network then this is all unnecessary. They work at layer 2 locally and don't need to use an IP address or DHCP.
