Ibm thinkpad 2647 xp professional.
cd path was accidentally changed and now cd's won't play.
The battery will not charge and we have to have it plugged in to operate.

the cd path... do you mean that you have changed the drive letter? (D is usually the default if you don't have other disks preceding it)
