the cd path... do you mean that you have changed the drive letter? (D is usually the default if you don't have other disks preceding it)

Hi there,
Power on, when you see the IBM logo, press F12 once to load the boot menu options, provided that you already have an Operating System CD / DVD in the drive, which should allow you to format your HDD.

Accidentally delete the ntldr file and now the computer does not boot -my computer-(ibm thinkpad 2609) does ot have any cd or floppy drives abd i dont have my windows xp installation cd

You'll need a XP cd or another PC so you can make a copy and transfer that file to the ThinkPad. If that's possible, let me know and I'll tell you where it needs to be relocated on the ThinkPad.

My IBM Thinkpad T22's battery doesnt last. can i fix that?

Basically you need a new battery. Recharageable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and they lose their full charge capacity as the get older. The batteries will have less capacity over time ie less available battery time, and when it is worn out, it won't charge at all.

Thinkpad T20 dosen't reconize cd/dvd

I would recommend installing the driver for the CD drive restarting and allowing windows to reinstall the drive, it should sort any path issues. To do so using XP click: Start> Control Panel> System> Hardware> Device manager. Select your cd drive from the list R click and select Uninstall. then close and restart. You should have drivers on the system for this device so upon a restart windows will "Found New Hardware" and you may need to click through the installer, all being well it will resolve this issue.

This applies to any malfunctioning equipment, however always ensure you can get the driver from somewhere before proceeding.

If you believe it to be a hardware failure there are allot of these drives available to buy on the web try a search in ebay.
