Kenmore 70 series dryer shuts off and won't restart

I have a Kenmore 70 series electric dryer. It starts fine and seems to be running normal but shuts off after about 3-5 minutes. It will not start again right away. The dryer does not make any funny noises. Could it be that the vent is plugged?

my dryer will shut off after 15 minutes or so and beep 3 times. I can usually restart but it will not run long. I have check the vents inside and out. Cleaned out all lint. Tightened all visible connectors and inspected cord. I do not know how to remove the panel to check the unreachable connectors. I ran the factory test and all were ok. The dryer is about four years old. HELP

My dryer will run for about 5 min and then shut off, and it trips the breaker. It will start again after i take care of the breaker, but then it shuts off again after only a few minutes. It is very frustrating and almost impossible to get anything dry.

I had the same problem. I checked the motor and it was packed full of lint and dirt. I cleaned it all out and it seems to be working fine now

IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH THE MOTOR IS OVERHEATING AND SHUTTING ITSELF OFF. THAT IS ABOUT THE ONLY THING ON THE DRYER THAT WOULD SHUT IT OFF AND NOT ALLOW IT TO START AGAIN RIGHT AWAY, BUT LET IT START AFTER A WHILE. MAKE SURE THE MOTOR TURNS FREELY. IT SHOULD NOT DRAG OR HUMM WHEN TRYING TO START.

It is possible that the vent pipe behind the dryer is blocked or clogged with lint. Check this first and let me know if this solves the problem.

I'm betting its in the circuit breaker. One is it alumina wiring? If so it may need an Anti-Oxidant Joint Compound. Two the screws for the wiring, may be not very tight. Turn off the main switch and tighten the screws all the way down. If this doesn't fix it, replace the circuit breaker.

Kenmore 70 Series Electric Dryer will not start

It sounds like the hi-limit thermostate and/or the thermal cut-off is what is causing your dryer to shut down. Basically it's over heating. You should replace these two items togeather. Also the thermal cut-off will be triggered by a grounded out heating element. Here is a diagram of where these items are located. hope this helps

Kenmore dryer 70 Series doesn't shut off, timer continues to run

there are 2 different kinds of units made back then.
one has a push to start button that could have a stuck contact causing the unit to think you are pushing the button and want it to run again.
the other could have a stuck motor switch and thats not available separately. you would have to replace the motor. try to clean any lint out of the motor if you have that type. use compressed air to blow the lint out of the motor. it usually works to get the lint out and it can cause the switch to stick.

Makes squeaking noise after running for about 10 minutes

there are 2 drum rollers at the back of the dryer. shut off power, pull drum and you will see 2 rubber wheels. there is a little plastis triangle that keeps the roller in place. try spinning the rollers . they probably will not spin too freely. remove triangles ,inspect inside of roller the stainless steel bearing may have gunk on it try to clean off . also check shaft roller rides likewise remove any debri use a little rubbing alcohol to remove gunk. also check the idler roller that routes the belt for the same things. good luck
