Printer is pixma mp 500 help

My printer does not print or even when i use my microsoft word for a copy
my printer is an pixma mp500

Try reloading your printer program from either the disk that came with the printer or go to www.cannon.com and download the free drivers located within the download section. You might try changing out the printer cable if you have an extra one also. Check the default set up to make sure your computer is using the right printer. Some of the simple things have shot my tires out when I have spent time looking for more complex issues. :)

I've got a Canon Pixma MP 500. Printing from my computer = faded print. Copying = blank page. Auto head align fails. Alarm light goes on. Have tried stop/reset button. How can I fix this?

Hello,

It sounds like the print head on your printer is either clogged or not working.

You get faint print from your computer because the computer will use your color inks to get gray. When you copy, it only tries to use black and the black isn't printing at all.

Check your user's manual and it should show you how to clean the print head. Otherwise replace the print heads and you should be fine.

Hi Ihave a MP-500 that prints off color.

You need a new printhead, QY6-0059-000, around $60.00. They do wear out and also plug when you use generic inks.

Printing only b&w from a colour Canon Pixma 500

The Canon will not allow you to print with empty color tanks, or without them installed.Canon does not want the ink to dry in the printhead which would destroy he printhead.

There may be other ways but after hitting print and your print dialog box comes up, check grayscale printing.

Our Cannon MP 500 is leaving a 1/4" wide black streak on the back side of copies. I have cleaned off the cartridge heads, replaced the ink tanks cleaned the heads to no avail. What is the problem and how...

The problem is not with the print head. Print a blank page and if you are still getting the streak. Something is probably trapped in the printer or the rollers are dirty.
