SanDisk Cruzer stuck in USB drive

I cannot remove the 128MB SanDisk Cruzer Mini from the USB port on my Samsung 50" DLP HDTV (HL-S5086W). I've used it many times to view pictures but now it is impossible to remove.

Wayne_mcc,
So it is physically stuck in the port? If it has been in there for a long time it may have been bumped or jarred so it has lodged in , slight bend or angle would verify that that is the case. It is not rusted or that there is corrosion causing it to stick. Those drives are inexpensive and unless you have some pretty imprtant photos on it I wouldn't worry about gripping it with some small pliers and extracting it straight back, it may crush the mini but you will get it out. The TV is worth more than the cruzer so keep in mind the port can be replaced. You can get an adapter wtih a cable extension that allows you to plug in different USB devices or card readers that way it's "remote" from the TV itself that would make it easy to pop it out and change to something else.

Try a different USB device on each of the USB ports on your computer.
Hopefully, all your USB ports are working correctly.

Try a different USB port on your computer.
Hopefully, the SanDisk will be detected on one of the ports.

Try a USB port on a different computer.
If the SanDisk still is not detected, then spend $10 to buy a new 4GB flash-drive.

SanDisk cruzer 2.0 GB flash drive will no longer open on the computer that it is regularly used on

Try it on another computer. If it opens then there is something wrong with your computer USB hub. Please clean it and clean the Flash drive by blowing air in it as sometimes over prolonged use the dust settles in. If it still does not work then I am afraid you have to change the USB port.

I can help you with your Sandisk Cruzer USB drive problem.

Sandisk Cruzer's are fairly unique in so far as they don't just appear in your My Computer window the way that every other USB drive I've ever used does.

Instead, Sandisk Cruzer's use a terribly 'helpful' piece of software that takes time to load every time you plug it in.

Here are the steps:
  1. Plug in your Sandisk Cruzer USB drive.
  2. Sit back and wait. Don't touch anything.
  3. If it is connected properly, the 'slide' bit will light up orange, at first flashing, eventually solid.
  4. When the orange Sandisk logo appears on your desktop, the drive is ready to use.
  5. Clicking on the Sandisk logo will bring up a menu.
  6. Click the 'Explore Drive' option to bring up a windows explorer screen of the USB drive.
  7. When you are done with the Cruzer, return to the Sandisk Menu App and select 'Eject' to prepare the USB drive for removal. (Just pulling it out without 'ejecting' it will destroy all your data 1 time out of 50 or 100, so always use the eject feature.)

I hope that helps.

How do you save files on a sandisk cruzer flash drive?

Insert the cruzer into the usb port. You should see a message pop up and say new hardware found and then flash off. It may also say usb memory or storage device or even recognize it as the cruzor. This recognition process is fairly quick say 5-10 seconds. After that the computer knows what the cruzer is and its ready for use.

The cruzer is now seen as another drive or storage drive on your computer. Your hard drive is usually C , the CD/DVD would be D drive and the cruzer would be seen as E. If you are in a program and want to save to the cruzer you open the file/save and you should see E drive or Cruzer if not click on my computer and look for it there. Once you find it just click on it and then hit save/ok. Thats all there is to using one. Once you know how to find it as a save option or a loading option then you just treat it like a hard drive.

Once you get it sorted out you will use it a lot. They are very handy.

My laptop does not see my sandisk when I plugged

Files on a flash drive can be corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon and then click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flash drive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive you need to format the flash drive, but you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.

Hi,
You have a problem with USB not the Cruzer. You will not be able to open it if the computer does not recognize it. Unplug it, and try plugging it in other ports. Reboot if necessary. Use a USB hub if you have one. I have given mine up for dead multiple times but it does revive. The problem , in my opinion comes from the USB controller, especially in laoptops with a few USB ports.

If you used the SanDisk encryption software on Windows, you will not be able to open the drive under MacOS or Linux.

Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Cruzer Micro 8GB flash drive - no user manual

Plug it into the USB port. Press Windows-E to bring up the Explorer window, or start My Computer and open the removable drive.

You can then drag&drop files to/from the flash drive just as you do on the hard drive.
