Re: it isnt charging
If the power connection is loose on the motherboard then you will either need to get the connector replaced (Many places advertize replacing the jack for around $100) or replace the motherboard. (Also around $100)

If it's not a recognized charger it'll stop charging the battery and try to run on the charger alone. If the peak draw of the laptop is higher than the charger output, it'll go right back off.
Try removing the battery and see if it'll boot on the charger alone.
a hundred to 1 your chrger is ****. Though it will still keep it powered on....it doesnt have enough connection to give it a full charge. I had this same laptop and with the same problem. go to ebay and buy a new charger for 15 bucks and your problem is solved. In the future always try the charger first ...they are always cheaper than a new battery!
Try an Antec charger with an adjustable votage output. I tried a new battery, charger, BIOS udate, etc, etc, etc. After fighting it for about 2 months, I found the Antec at Best Buy. Took it home, plugged it in, slid the adjuster up till the "charge" light came on. Been working fine for about 6 months.
