I have one Nortel T7316E phone in my office, I plug in a Plantronics Polaris headset to its headset jacket on the back of the phone. when I press the headset button, a message '' needs handsfree'' appears. The headsets function does not work.
How to enable the headset function to make the headset work ?

The A10 direct connect cord used on the Nortel T7316E primarily will
increase the speaker volume. If the problem is that your microphone is
too low, you will need to use an amplifier, the M22. Remember that the
amplifier needs to be connected through the HANDSET jack not the headset

There is a feature built-in to the norstar system called "Set Relocation". When this feature is turned on, you can move a working extension to an unused/activated jack and the extension, features and mailbox will stay with the phone.
Have your system administrator turn the feature on, then move up to 2 phones at a time. The phone will go through 2 bootup sessions - be patient and don't unplug the phone.
The Nortel 7316 set is propriatary which requires the nortel system in qrder to work., The pulsing lights are the set reacting to the standard line voltage.In order for it to work in your house you'll have to install the nortel phone cabinetand then attach the set(s) to it.
more than likely someone in your office left the message rather than the voice mail. to clear it press the call soft key below the screen. the screen should display who left the message with two of the soft keys labeled call and erase. press the erase soft key. it's possible the the person/s that left the message left multiple messages. in that case repeat the procedure til all messages are canceled
